I'm shooting myself in the leg here, but I am pathologically honest and a whimpy softy, so I'll admit that I'd happily keep poking you for that, though I'm torn between my desire for more-for-me and my worry that this might be seriously bothering you, instead of be amusing and challenging. Erm.
Oh, don't worry about it. If I seriously can't do something -- like if you asked me to do nonconsensual pain, which I have a serious squick about, or consensual pain, which I just can't generate any enthusiasm for -- I'd just say, "Oh, hey, sorry, can't do it, what's your second choice?"
Sex without talking is just an interesting challenge, not a problem.
What's funny is that I'm in the middle of writing a fic where John is temporarily mute and soon I will be getting to the sex, so I'd been thinking a lot about this anyway, how John uses conversation to deflect serious things and how all of his barriers will be gone.
