[personal profile] woldy prompts: Favorite plotbunny that you've never written?

Man, everywhere I go I'm trailed by the ghosts of stories I haven't written! No way I can limit it to just one.

I'm sorry I never wrote the sequel to American Way where Ray K. would have to pass for Canadian. Chat log from 2002: resonant pictures Ray with his hand on the top button of Fraser's shirt: Very softly: "May I?"

I'm sorry I never wrote "True Minds," in which adult, postwar Harry and Snape become partners in Legilimency, but there's something dreadful in their shared past. I posted a fragment of it here.

I'm sorry I never wrote the follow-up to Experience in SGA; it was going to be called "Innocence" and take place in canon time. At first John thought Rodney was playing some sort of weird psychotic game with him. How else could you explain Rodney McKay -- *Rodney McKay* -- shaking his hand and calling him Major Sheppard? Rodney saying, "Think of where we are in the universe" in the same authoritative tone that John remembered him using for "Go on, take your clothes off, nothing I haven't seen before."

I need to finish what I start, because after a while stories get stiff and unworkable like dried-up play-doh.

Hangups

Enough real life. Let's play a game.

You give me a fannish character I'm reasonably familiar with, and for that person I will give you a hangup. You know: a sexual dysfunction, an unexpected inhibition or aversion, some perfectly ordinary thing he/she simply cannot handle.

If I'm *not* familiar with your character, maybe some other reader will join in.

We have requests that I'm unable to fill:
Joe Dawson
John Winchester
Reese or Finch
Christopher Chant

Anybody want to take these on?
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Faster than humanly possible)
For the five of you who read my journal and don't also read [personal profile] cesperanza's, why? she finished an SGA story off of some scribblings I had done a long time ago, and this is the result:

Phatic
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 1,700 words
"It means it doesn't mean anything," Rodney says. "It's just something you do, like asking people how they are when you don't care, or telling people to look you up when they're in town." "So, pretty much your whole life, then," John says sincerely.
On AO3 or on my site even though Cesca actually wrote most of it.

Also, I've now cross-posted to my site the SGA OT4 story first posted in [livejournal.com profile] sga_saturday: Team Dynamics.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Faster than humanly possible)
Right, don't die of shock or anything, but I've posted a new (by some definitions of the word) SGA story to [livejournal.com profile] sga_saturday. Check it out over here!
resonant: Flesh: Smutlet (smutlet)
I've posted a new SGA smutlet to my website. This one is for [livejournal.com profile] hj2, unless she only enjoys Rodney with John.

Spirit
McKay/Zelenka -- NC-17 -- 2,750 words
In which it turns out that Radek Zelenka is a sex god.

eta: ooooops, she's [livejournal.com profile] hj2, not [livejournal.com profile] h2j!
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (smrt)
Today's Disaster Forecast
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 1700 words
for [livejournal.com profile] dogeared, who prompts: Why is Rodney so determined to get out of the upcoming mission with John?
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
I got the best friends in explored space.

So far I've taken about three hundred books to help rebuild the school library after the fire. I don't know how many people have sent gift certificates directly to Mrs. M., but the librarian knows me by name now.

The offer I made in the original post still stands: anyone who wants to donate can give me a pairing and ask me a question, and I'll write them something little, or maybe not so little.

[livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine gets her smutlet first, though, because she gave me one hell of a prompt.

Long
SGA, McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 500 words
[livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine prompts: What's the longest John can go without an orgasm?
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
Lots of people have been doing cool stuff with my stories, and I've been terribly remiss in sharing links.

[livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria did a DVD commentary on Term of Service (SGA, McKay/Sheppard, NC-17) -- find it here.

[livejournal.com profile] ladyvyola did a DVD commentary on Advantage (SGA, McKay/Sheppard, NC-17) -- find it here.

[livejournal.com profile] podfic_lover did podfics of Getting the Message (Due South, Fraser/Kowalski, G) and Subterfuge (Due South, Fraser/Kowalski, NC-17) -- find them here.

[livejournal.com profile] laurie_ky did audiobooks of Tender (Sentinel, NC-17) and Knoxville (Sentinel, PG-13) with cover art by [livejournal.com profile] cybel -- find them here.

[livejournal.com profile] kinseyx did a podfic of The Familiar (HP, Potter/Snape, NC-17) -- find it here.

[livejournal.com profile] zabira did a podfic of Homemaking (Due South, Fraser/Kowalski, NC-17) -- find it here.

[livejournal.com profile] anatsuno did an audiobook of Field Conditions (SGA, McKay/Sheppard, NC-17) with cover art by [livejournal.com profile] cybel -- find it here.

My deepest apologies if you did something and I forgot to announce it.

As always, if you like the work, comment to the reader/artist/commentator. And my policy on any and all such transformations of my stories is: Go for it.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
I am so bad about announcing podfics -- sorry to everyone who's done all this hard work and not heard a word from me. [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 has done a podfic of my Due South story, Adorned -- you can find the link here. And [livejournal.com profile] general_jinjur has done a podfic of my Stargate Atlantis story Girlfriend with lovely cover art by [livejournal.com profile] raz0rgirl -- you can find the link here.

Again, here's my policy on podfics, remixes, DVD commentaries, and any and all transformations of my work: go for it.

• Last night I dreamed that David Hewlett and I were doing a little necking, and also a little bonding over how much we loved to hold other people's babies. His baby made no appearance. And I don't even like babies all that much. Give me a kid that can talk back, I say.

• Also last night at 4 a.m. there was a great crash, and now we have no power. (I'm writing this from a coffee shop where I fled for blessed internet.) I opened the windows when the air conditioning went off, and I said to the spouse, "It's amazing how quiet it is out there," and he said, "Well, many of the loudest insects are powered with electricity."
resonant: It feels so good. (So good)
Remember the Teyla, P.I. conversation a while back? As an entry in the [livejournal.com profile] paintedspires art challenge, [livejournal.com profile] leyna55 has painted it!

If you click the image to see the full-size version, and then click the Up To Gallery link, you'll see that she's made book covers for each pairing, and, man, I would read every one of them.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] giglet: I want an AU where the team are the noir detectives of the Pegasus Galaxy.
[livejournal.com profile] terrio envisions Teyla in (male) noir-detective get-up and swoons
[livejournal.com profile] giglet: Oh, the fedora!
[livejournal.com profile] terrio: with the hat and all!
[livejournal.com profile] resonant8: oomg
[livejournal.com profile] terrio: yes!
[livejournal.com profile] terrio: exactly
[livejournal.com profile] kassrachel: So who's the dame with the legs up to here?
[livejournal.com profile] resonant8: John.

I've posted a new SGA story to my website.

Girlfriend
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 6,900 words
"Rodney, you are the strangest man I've ever met. And ... almost the strangest woman."

Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza and [livejournal.com profile] terrio.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
"One Night In Bangkok" came up on shuffle (this would be because I'm a big giant dork and my kid doesn't yet know enough about music to demand that I shape up), and, man, people, that is totally Rodney McKay talking!

I mean, a young, even more defensive sort of Rodney McKay, where "I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine" translates to "I'm so utterly hopeless with women that I can't tell which are the prostitutes and which are the doctoral students, and it doesn't matter anyway because all of them either laugh at me or throw drinks at me."

Tell me you can't see this
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Default)
Thanks to whoever nominated Interface, Term of Service, and Undoing for the McShep awards!

Looks like the nomination period is over, but when voting starts, you'll find it here. Worth going over there now, though, because there's a really hot Rodney/John kiss manip. I mean really hot; normally manips just make me kind of nervous and embarrassed*, but this one is just, mmm. (If I'm reading the credits right, we have [livejournal.com profile] newkidfan to thank for that.)

* except [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn used to have these two terrific shirtless manips of Fraser and Ray that were so good, and now I can't find them.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Music share)
I wanted to belatedly point you to these items:

A podfic of "Advantage" (SGA), read by [livejournal.com profile] dodificus. I'm impressed that she took on one of the long ones, and she did a terrific job.

Audiobooks! [livejournal.com profile] cybel has turned [livejournal.com profile] zabira's podfics into audiobook format, with cover artwork and everything:

- "Reality" (SGA) audiobook with gorgeous cover art by [livejournal.com profile] crysothemis
- "Campfire Tales" (DS) audiobook
- "Whisper" (DS) audiobook
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Music share)
[livejournal.com profile] zabira is outdoing herself here; now she's done a podfic of my SGA story Reality.

Maybe podfic lovers should save themselves trouble and just friend her now.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Music share)
[livejournal.com profile] the_oscar_cat has done a podfic (read-aloud version) of Input. You can find download options here.

[livejournal.com profile] the_oscar_cat has a lovely British accent. It's quite disturbingly narcissistic that I find this recording sexy, but I do.

(I wish I could remember who sent me the read-aloud version of Experiment, which made me all bashful so that I didn't reply until I'd forgotten who it was and couldn't thank her properly. If that was you, poke me, will you?)

This might be a good time to mention my policy on podfics, remixes, fanfic of fanfic, etc., which is: Go for it. I consider anything I've published to be fair game for anything you like to do with it -- as long as you use adult-content warnings where appropriate, and as long as you don't claim that you've written my words or that I've written anyone else's.

Also, we're off on vacation tomorrow, so I won't be seeing you until the end of June. Have fun and don't break anything!
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Smutlet)
I've posted the second of the polled smutlets to my website.

Input
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 472 words
Rodney thinks it's too soon. Tough, because John's already made his mind up.

Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Smutlet)
Those of you who were the majority in the which-smutlet poll, your wish is my command: I've posted a new SGA smutlet to my website.

Field Conditions
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 821 words
"And don't tell me there are no mistakes in sex, because when you say, 'Ow,' this definitely indicates an error on my part."

Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza, [livejournal.com profile] giglet, and [livejournal.com profile] terrio.
resonant: Brian from The Breakfast Club: Demented and sad, but social (Faster)
I've posted a new SGA story to my website.

Undoing
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 4,700 words
The risk, the lying, the inevitable discovery: he'd just been handed a chance to undo it all.

With beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza, [livejournal.com profile] giglet, and [livejournal.com profile] julad.

Also, a favor to ask: I just started using a new site counter from Statcounter, and so I had to re-upload a bunch of pages. If you load anything of mine and the code is screwed up, can you let me know? (I already had to re-code Term of Service because I'd done something weird to it.)
