Oddity of the day

Apparently a food processor, in French, is a "Robot Culinaire." (This from the box of my brand-new red! KitchenAid food processor, bought when I accidentally dropped my ancient Cuisinart on the floor and broke it.)

A Robot Culinaire sounds like it would do something much cooler than just slice, dice, and cut butter into flour for pie crust, doesn't it? Like it would make the full meal, serve it to you, clean up the kitchen afterwards, and maybe wear a little apron.

Also? It should have a mustache.

Totally it should have a mustache. I should be able to say, "An omelet, Francois, with mushrooms and Gruyere," and it should say, "Very good, madam, and perhaps a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice?"

And it should pronounce 'orange' like 'o-RAHNJ.'

The only bad thing is that Francois sometimes gets a huffy when you make too much chocolate mousse or cookie dough, etc. It doesn't say anything, but the tongue-clucking is audible.
