December Daily: headcanon

[personal profile] veronamay asks: what's your all-time favourite piece of fanon/headcanon? Describe in detail, including reasons why you love it. Can be something you came up with, or someone else's that you've adopted--just something you really love.

You know what's making me really happy right now? I've been gone from Harry Potter fandom for a long time, but I still sometimes go off into reveries in which Snape actually survived the series and went on to actually have a real life.

Back in the day, there were hundreds of stories on this topic -- I fondly remember some very late ones of [personal profile] dementordelta's. I'm out of touch; maybe people are still writing them.

Sorry -- I'm not really sufficiently fannishly connected right now to have a lot of headcanons regarding fandoms that are still getting new source material, except that I share with a lot of people the absolute conviction of Captain America's bisexuality.

I wasn't part of the HP fandom, though your fic and a few others are among my favorite fic ever of all time, but I am still mad that Snape died, and mournful about it. Truly an amazing character - I have a hard time not thinking of him as real, you know? I really do think he's living somewhere, at least in a universe just a few over.

Steve just really likes guys who run laps in tight tee shirts, okay? :D

sometimes I feel like I am standing over Captain America snarling like HE IS OURS YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM THE BISEXUALS HAVE CLAIMED HIM

except I'm ok with the asexuals having him too

(we can share him, ace folks. how about Cap is a demisexual biromantic? does that work for you?)

I'm careful about discussing Snape with people, because a number of my friends hate him rather violently. But even though he was an awful person, I think he got a very raw deal and is absolutely not dead. Just ... sleeping. Soundly.

People most certainly do still write these stories. The Secret Snarry Swap, posting on [community profile] snape_potter now, is dominated by them. I'm very fond of the presumed dead for years, found by Harry for plot reasons ones most of all. There are very many fewer epilogue-compliant ones with Ginny-bashing as well. I haven't had to back button grumpily out of any of the stories I've started reading yet. Win!
