New Breakfast Club story: Higher Education

Because we all need a hyooge story in a semi-non-existent fandom to make our day complete.

Oh, I'm so glad someone noticed that thing with the names -- it was a small favorite of mine. I'm so glad you liked the story!

This was fabulous.
Really, really fabulous.

The detail, and the blur between scenes. The characters in the garage and the sense of place. The longing and confusion and determination. Brian's complete lack of pretense, and having pretended to be Bender. Vernon and John's dad and the absolutely-not-spoken-ness of the final resolution.

I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks so much. I remember it sort of took over my brain, so that I'd look at things I wrote and say, "That looks like a pretty good solution to the problem, but I have no memory of coming up with it."

Sorry to be that person who comments years late, but a friend just pointed me over here and, wow, this was great. Just… growing up, succeeding at an ordinary life, learning to want things, and winning! Yes! You sharpened Bender’s edges enough to make him a more realistic, hates-the-world fuck up, rather than the cartoonish one from the movie. Then you mellowed him into the decent guy that was under the surface all along, all while leaving the edges that make him him. I completely bought his character. This was lovely. Thanks for sharing.
