Even if I didn't know the canon, I would be delighted to read this story.

I do know the canon, so it was even better. What a fabulous extrapolation of their movie relationship!

I'm so glad you liked it! The characters are archetypal enough that you don't really need to know the movie, I think, but of course some of the details make more sense if you do.
