Oh! I really should go to bed but oh! Hancock! Slash! (well, I ship the happy threesome, but slash! :D )

[identity profile] suaine.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, wow. WOW.

Bittersweet and hot and true to the characters. I think I love you, but I know I love this ;D

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! The movie is really incomplete without the threesome angle.

Thanks to you!

[identity profile] wyoluvr.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
want more! more! it's just so lovely and rare.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Rare is right. I don't even know if there's a fandom. Maybe if they make a sequel ...

[identity profile] everysecondtues.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeeeeee. I really should have tried to go back to bed, but I couldn't resist. Just, eeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hancock looked at Ray's head tucked under his chin, his own softened face. "This winds up on the internet, you're gonna face the wrath, woman. Words cannot describe."

"I can take you." There was a smile in her voice.

Was just such a nice, soft ending.

I loved the phone calls, and the text message, and, and *hand flail* everything. This made me super happy.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! I want to make them happy.

[identity profile] villeinage.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. And I'm so glad I'm not the only person in the universe who thought this was the slashiest movie.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, absolutely! I wish they'd done a little more with Mary -- I think she was a missed opportunity -- because obviously this is the sort of outcome the whole film was headed for.

[identity profile] slvrbld747.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 03:03 am (UTC)(link)

OMG! This was glorious. This is almost exactly how I pictured it after I saw the movie. They would so share him. He was perfect for both of them. I never did quite see the steps that it took to get there but this, this is lovely, and fitting. I could wish for a bit more of the sex, wicked grin, but all in all, wonderful.

I did usually envision them swapping between the coasts, as they ended the movie, between San Fran, and New York. What made you decide to keep Hancock in the Mountains? Proximity? Thanks for sharing this, and if you know of any other Hancock fic along these lines, please, please, share, grins widely, cause it sure was fine. -SB

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! Yes, Ray's last night of peaceful sleep is over now.

You know, once I read your comment, I thought back to the movie and went, "Yes, obviously that was their intent." But when I was actually watching it, it never crossed my mind that the three of them would stay apart, any more than it crossed my mind that Hancock was going to stay on the moon! I just couldn't imagine them not living in the same city.

[identity profile] slvrbld747.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 05:34 am (UTC)(link)

Oh, yeah, the chemistry between all these actors was fabulous. Hancock and Ray practically glowed
on the screen together, and Mary and Ray were just as good. The threesome was so obvious that
half way through the movie I was wondering what the threesomes would look like, and of course,
anticipating the slash. I haven't done a search, but if you know of a site that has fanfiction for
Hancock, I love to know about it. Also, this story is still awesome, grins. -SB

[identity profile] neotoma.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
hooo. That was *smoking* hot.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. That's always what I'm hoping for.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
*Flails*

That was absolutely perfect! Really, the ending I totally did not know I was craving. I loved it to pieces.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good! I wanted them happy, and I wanted Hancock not alone.

[identity profile] not-sally.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
This was gorgeous, I loved it. And apparently, there's more of us than four!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently so! Now we just lie back and wait for all the fabulous stories to flow in ...

[crickets chirp]

[identity profile] swanswan.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
That was lovely! Complicated and then beautifully resolved(ish). I like very much how you work with the relationships the film sets up and how you take them to another level. Great story!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! I really want the three of them to wind up together, but I just can't figure out any way to bridge the gap completely.

This was fantastic!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Glad you liked it.

[identity profile] bentrumors.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my, I enjoyed that a great deal. I particularly liked the view from inside Hancock's head. And Ray! *snuggles them both*

I want that picture too! LOL

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
They need snuggling, don't they? And that picture would make some tabloid photographer some serious cash.

[identity profile] azephirin.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This is so lovely and complicated and bittersweet. I loved the details like Aaron's text message, and Mary's experiments with preventing earthquakes. I'm so glad to see more fic for this movie!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I wish there were a whole fandom, but I don't really see it happening. Just not enough canon. still, I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

[identity profile] justabi.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
0h my god, that was hot and awesome and the best possible outcome.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad you liked it!

That was absolutely beautiful :)

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! The movie really does seem to ask for something like this.

[identity profile] shinra-lackey.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my. I just send you general *squee* and happiness for this fic. Thank you!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good! I'm glad other people saw the possibilities there.

[identity profile] shinetheway.livejournal.com 2008-10-13 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[bounces with joy]

I have been haunting your journal and website since august 8 when you posted that you were writing a new Hancock story and I'm all wheee!!!!!!

And the story was so totally of the rock, I'm all giddy and happy now.

Please, write more in this fandom that doesn't exist, or I may be forced to do it as well. And I haven't seen the movie yet!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear, was it that long? I just don't seem to be able to produce the way I used to. Still, I'm glad someone else saw it there in the movie. And you certainly ought to be forced to write me some stories; I can't be the only one!

[identity profile] mildmannered.livejournal.com 2008-10-14 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, you know what, this was so good it made me see the movie.

And now I have a frackin' essay to write, because Ray? is Hancock's magical Negro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro). God I love this movie, skating on the edge of so much bad race politics and then neatly subverting them.

Thanks for making me see it...

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, now that is hilarious. Because Ray is not just a white guy, he's a white P.R. guy, which seems like taking white to the next level, you know?

The movie was surprisingly subtle about some things, wasn't it? while being predictably unsubtle about so many others, of course.

[identity profile] mildmannered.livejournal.com 2008-10-15 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I KNOW. He's like, the whitest white guy in whiteville. And yet he's totally the vessal for Hancock's self-actualization. In fact, it's his very mystical whiteness, one might argue, which allows Hancock to self-actualize.

I was really worried at first there -- like, just what the world needs to see, a flying black man holding a bottle of malt liquor. But things got infinitely weirder and deeper.

I was so happy at the end when they acknowledged that Hancock was basically lynched. I was kind of expecting them to ignore his (perceived) race, since it had kind of been this unspoken subtext throughout the movie - something all the characters had carefully avoided mentioning. And then, Boom!

Overall, it was a fascinating mess of a movie. I can't believe it even got made, and that it came out as good as it did.

[identity profile] terribilita.livejournal.com 2008-10-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I must admit, I'm a bit conflicted about this fic. It's wonderfully written, as usual, and I very much agree with you that this could be the natural progression following the movie. I distinctly remember thinking how weird it was that Ray seemed A-OK with Mary being in love with Hancock and how much that bothered me. So at the same time, I didn't like Mary very much in the movie and I don't like her very much here. I kind of think it has to do with my kinda-sorta threesome squick and how she pushes for it in the fic. I don't know, I just feel bad for Ray, even at the end. So I feel like maybe I'm missing the point of the fic? *hands*

I debated with myself about commenting because I don't want to sound too forward (and please screen or delete if that's the case) or like I didn't like this. I really did enjoy reading it and it made me a bit thinky; thank you for writing it.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, see, I think Mary is a terrible missed opportunity. Not that I like her in the movie -- there's nothing to like, really, except that she's clearly in love with both of them. (And that she says to Hancock, "I'm stronger than you. Oh, yeah." I liked that.) But she's kind of not there.

And for that reason, I would love to have a threesome with the three of them -- just, the way the movie sets up the alien anatomy, it would mean vulnerability and eventual death for both Hancock and Mary, which I don't like so much.

Actually, if you have a threesome squick, I'm going to take it as a compliment that there was anything here you liked, since the idea of that impossible threesome pretty much underlies the whole relationship here.

So thanks for reading and writing!

[identity profile] nakedbee.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Fabulous! I've had this story open in a tab for a little while and finally got a chance to read it today. It was awesome (like everything you write) and has totally brightened my day. I particularly like that you have them using technology to overcome their proximity restrictions (i.e., the picture sending). I'm having a fun time imagining some near-future time when they invest in a webcam or video phone. ;)

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Good -- glad you liked it! When the movie had that cell phone in the last scene, it pretty much demanded further technology use. And, mmmm, webcam.

[identity profile] celestialcuming.livejournal.com 2008-11-04 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Just read it and just LOVED it!!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good! I'm glad to hear it.

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
I love this A LOT.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad!

[looking at your icon] Dare I hope that there might be some Hancock stories on this year's Yuletide?

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2008-11-08 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I have only just seen the movie so I'm pretty enthusiastic!!! I nearly went and redid my sign up to include it, but I checked and there's already 5 requests and 19 volunteers (http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/get_requested_fandoms.cgi), so we're bound to get a couple!

[identity profile] harmonyangel.livejournal.com 2008-11-23 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this is wonderful. I was pointed in this direction by MByrd (who said to mention she knows she owes you an e-mail), and I'm very, very glad I was. This was exactly what I was craving the moment I left the theater, and it very much fulfilled that need. (I requested Hancock OT3 fic for Yuletide, which is how MByrd found me. The powers of Yuletide stretch far!)

Fabulous characterizations, fabulous prose, and an overall fabulous story. I'm so glad this exists!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2008-12-22 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad you liked it! It really is more satisfying to me to think of the story if I think it's headed in this direction.

Hope you get some Hancock OT3 for Yuletide, too, so I can share it!

[identity profile] raveninthewind.livejournal.com 2008-12-21 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
And I rec'd this one here:

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks again! I'm so glad you're enjoying them.

[identity profile] matty-parkman.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I should love you for writing Hancock slash or hate you for giving me briken!Hancock each damn time.
you're too good, and your fics are too real and believable and it hurts. *wails*

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this isn't awful as far as happy endings go -- not nearly as bad as "Flight." Actually it's amazing that he's as functional as he is, considering what his life has been like. I mean, just the part of it he remembers.
