Random poem fun

I had a great time with the livejournal random poem generator. (Go to www.antispin.net/~martine/cgi-bin/insanity.cgi?fnord=USERNAME, substituting your own username.) My very first entry ended with "Huh?" which is an eloquent summary of my livejournal content.

I didn't get anything good enough to publish in its entirety, but I did occasionally get brief detours into coherence, such as:

Boring sex. I'm not a surprising number of teeth.

and

So I personally am a lot of cake.

and

Would I Were a white fur throw wearing nothing but in some muted color

and

Thinks I'm writing!

-- not to mention my new username: Precisely average, as well as dirty.

In other news, I'm having a great time working on my anniversary project -- I have follow-up snippets for two HP stories and two DS stories, and we'll see how many I can come up with between now and August 11.

[livejournal.com profile] tinderblast pointed out that the official gifts for a fourth anniversary are linen and silk, which just have waaaay too many possibilities. Did you know, for instance, that silk is the strongest of all natural fibers? A thread of silk is stronger than the same size thread of steel. Linen, too, is extremely strong, so much so that it was once used to make fishing nets and firehoses. It remains to be seen whether any of this will actually make it into a story (though, like all other fascinating trivia, it plays itself out in my brain in Fraser's voice), but at least I learned something from it.

Pirates smut recs?

Finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean. Every bit as three-slashy as everyone has been saying. What I want to know now is:

1. What on earth kind of accent was Johnny Depp trying for?

2. Why oh why does all the Pirates fic seem to be PG-13?! Is everybody just still doing research on historically accurate lubricants, or what? Because, I mean, if you can't despoil a Disney movie, you're not fit to be a despoiler at all, say I.

Overheard

Katie, one of the countergirls at the coffee shop where I do my writing in the mornings: "I've got this medallion. John, do you want a medallion?"

John, her boss, whom I've never seen wearing anything other than jeans and a procession of almost-identical Harley-Davidson T-shirts: "Sure -- I can wear it when I wear my jumpsuit."
