New Breakfast Club story: Higher Education

Because we all need a hyooge story in a semi-non-existent fandom to make our day complete.

Higher Education
Brian/Bender -- NC-17 -- 82K
John Bender gets a life

Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza and [livejournal.com profile] terrio.

Awesome. Just awesome. I could very nearly hear Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall's voices in my head at certain points, which I suppose is a hint that things have really been done right in a film fandom.

My favorite part was so silly, too -- the bit where you describe Wysocki as being an ice cream cone with a head felt so, so, so right and Bender-y.

...Would you be mad if I asked you to write the wedding, too? *g* Oh, knowing the reactions of John's family would be priceless.

This fic was recced by someone on my flist a few days ago, but I didn't get to it until last night when I was looking for something to read. I read most of it, had to go to bed where I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about it, then finally fell asleep and woke up thinking about it again.

Not sure if I can describe how much I love this fic, other than "I want to live in it." Now I understand the fangirl craving for a sequel even though the fic reached its ending. I want to see John's family meet Brian, and see if they figure it out. I want to see what happens at the wedding. I want to hang out with these guys and eat stuffed pizza (and I don't even know what that is).

I want to re-read it right now, I want to re-read it every day. I so love the fact that John got himself together -- hard to do with a background like that; he could so easily have gone the other way and been lost. That might be the biggest reason I liked the story. I also like the way Brian has matured and is quite self-assured. And I love INGIJLY (I'm Not Gay, I Just Love You) fics, so this totally hit that for me, especially the way John was so open to everything. The porch scene? So funny, the way Brian was fumbling with the keys, and also so hot, the way John just went after him, first with his words and his voice, then with his hands and mouth. Guh.

Plus, it's all so in-character: the only way Bender gets out of the path his life was on was to use his father as an anti-role model. That same reasoning lets him move into a relationship with Brian, whom he actually likes, but would probably run from if he hadn't had his back up about it.

Um, so, yeah. Possibly new favorite fic, and it's not even in any of my fandoms. I'm going to start reccing this to everyone. I liked it so much that now I'm happy and energized and doing stuff around the house. That never happens. :-)

I have melted into a puddle of loving goo. Thank you so much for this story.

Wow. This story is excellent in every way a story can be excellent. You made these characters interesting, three-dimensional, surprising, distinct, and alive. John's slow understandings are beautifully and realistically portrayed, his reaction to Brian's grown-up-ness is surprising and real. Wow. It's just great. thank you so much!

Holy shit, this is awesome. I can't get over just how much!!!!!!

This story is pretty much why I read fanfic. Because it was perfect, and all about the boys I fantasized about in high school, wishing they were queer and that I could secretly watch them. The sex was extremely well-written, making me feel all sentimental despite the fact that it wasn't soppy at all, and the characterizations were 100% spot-on. Quite possibly the best story I've read this year.

Bender was absolutely perfect. I am in love once again. I've kept your story up in my browser and periodically go back to it when I feel that I don't have enough sex in my life! =) Thanks once again!

Good gracious. I just stumbled across this via [livejournal.com profile] florahart's LJ, and it was the best surprise of the week. I didn't expect to go in for this, really, but this isn't just hot, it's wonderful, all the way, and it makes me so proud of Bender. Great job!

I read this story because of [livejournal.com profile] sor_bet's rec over at [livejournal.com profile] writers_orgasm and... wow, am I glad I did! I'm too impressed to say anything deep or meaningful, I think, so I'll just say that I think you tell an excellent story. Thanks for writing!

Res, you're *scary.* I didn't even like Breakfast Club.....but any story you write, I must read.

Fuck, that was good.

[identity profile] frek.livejournal.com 2005-08-01 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
holy shit that was hot.

I loved this movie - actually I still do.

I was recced by someone on my flist - don't remember who - but they were right.

I loved pretty much everything about this story. This pairing totally made sense and fit and guh. I'm completely lost for words.

This has to be one of my favorite pieces of fanfiction. Definitely.

<3!!

That was just lovely. The words dork, dorky, and dorkily have never been used so well! I had no idea Breakfast Club characters could work in quite this way, but they do, and they did and I'm so glad you're a part of HP fandom :D Thank you!

[identity profile] sori1773.livejournal.com 2005-08-02 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Man! How do you manage to take an incredibly un-slashable couple and make them so deliciously and perfectly believable? This was phenomenal!

[identity profile] mereol.livejournal.com 2005-08-02 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
dammit. after i read this the other day i dreamt about john bender. damn you, this was great.

[identity profile] cesperanza.livejournal.com 2005-08-02 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
YAYY!! Dude, seriously--why isn't this a fandom?? I feel so alone with my DZ love and my squee! (and my 150K WIP. ) I am so glad you're with me here!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! I'm one, too, and these guys live in my head already.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think something like this might have happened to Bender, if he was very lucky.

(And I love your icon.)

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Class of '82 here, so I'm a bit older than these guys, but they've lived in my head ever since the movie came out. And I've always felt that Brian was owed some sex, since after all, everybody else got coupled up and all he got was to do everyone's homework for them.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's a fun movie! It's, like, my adolescence! Including the horrible clothes!

I'm so glad you liked this (and Advantage, too). Making people nice is easy. Making them the jerks they need to be -- that takes work.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad!

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Wow -- I'm so glad! It made me happy, thinking about it, so I'm glad it was catching.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad! The characterization of Bender was tricky, so I'm glad it seems to have worked for you.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad you liked it! "In character" is the thing I'm especially wanting to hear on this one, since of course I'm taking a risk just by giving Bender a job ...

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm so glad.

[identity profile] resonant8.livejournal.com 2005-08-03 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. I'm so glad you liked it this much!

And, yes, I really wish there were more BC slash out there so I could read it.
