Another new HP snippet: Hanging

After I put up The Hang of It, [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion wondered what was going on in Ron's head at the same time. When I thought about it, I realized I had no idea. So I wrote it.

Hanging
Harry/Ron -- NC-17 -- 10K
The Hang Of It, from Ron's side.
Underage? Depends on whether you think it happened before July or after.

Oh, this is gorgeous.

I appreciate 'seeing' Harry's baggy clothes - I don't think I ever read that from another character's POV in a fic.

and understand that this meant Ron was not the only freak in the house

Oh, so *Ron*.

Love the little details, like smeared lenses. And this: after the blacksmith's puzzle of Harry's belt just made me squee. I've never heard that before, and it fit so well.

how he'd made Harry queer and given Malfoy and his goons one more weapon to hold over him and added another worry to Harry's life, as if it didn't have enough of them already, [...] and ten thousand new variables introduced, some of which could end up threatening Harry's life, because nobody had ever hesitated to look on everyone important to Harry as a potential hostage

Amazingly plausible, this train of thought. Original and interesting...and somehow reminds me of Molly Weasley's thinking. It adds another layer of authenticity, to feel he's inherited the worrying :D

If he was ever going to be anything, he was always going to be this: a shield on Harry's arm, a weapon in Harry's hand.

*tears prickle* Beautiful, Tolkienian ending. He's right; you make me believe it's inevitable.

Aww. So sweet! Thank you for this head-swelling comment.

I was hoping the "blacksmith's puzzle" thing wasn't going to be completely baffling.

And I love the idea of Ron with Molly's worrywart tendencies!
