or, Res sees so few movies that she feels compelled to discuss each and every one of them.

- Look! America still thinks it's the brave little underdog, even while it acts like the sand-kicking bully! That's so adorable. It's like how rich and powerful Christians go on identifying with the Israelites while they go on acting like the Roman Empire.

- Mysteriously and in clear violation of the laws of nature, Tommy Lee Jones is not getting any less sexy. I'd like an explanation of this.

- Oh hai, comic book homoeroticism. You always make things more fun.

- Best plucky child hostage ever.

- IMDb tells me that the guy who plays the army bully is named Lex Shrapnel. I have nothing to add.

- Captain America: hot. Peggy Carter: hot. Dr. Erskine: seriously hot in a rumpled Zelenka sort of way. Iron Man's dad: hot, though I have to assume that he's here because he's destined for another movie; you could have cut him without losing much. Bucky Barnes: hotter than anyone named Bucky has any business being. Brave team of culturally diverse underdogs: mostly hot, though I don't really know what to make of the bowler hat. Res: enjoying movies much more when she's ovulating.

Or the mustache, although I suspect both are traditional from the comics.

Tommy Lee Jones is the Chuck Norris of sexy?

When I'm ovulating, I mostly want to cry and/or hurt people, which isn't conducive to movie watching (or much of anything else). (That's legal and not embarrassing.)

Ooh, your point about ovulating coupled with ogling here is something I totally agree with. I dance every Friday (contra dance) and some weeks I'll be thinking all the guys there are sooo cute and then I realize I'm ovulating. *facepalm*

When I'm premenstrual I twang like a guitar string, the thin one on the end. Waves of "Oh Fuck!" radiate off me almost visibly, and I lie awake most of the night staring into the darkness, preparing mentally for every bad thing that ever happened to anybody. It's in between then and the ovulating that I become a table leg-humping monster. The days when that segues into the urge to kill and weep are interesting. I may have praying mantis DNA (though I've never heard that they were particularly weepy). I enjoy being a girl.

Iron Man's dad is the young hot guy in an extremely (and deliberately) homoerotic movie/play called the History Boys. Depressing ending, but good eye candy up until there, should you need it!

Oh, Dum-Dum Dugan, how I love you. He and the rest of the guys around him made up the Howlin' Commandos, under the command of Nick Fury. Cap worked with them often, tho he and Fury clashed often. They had/have their own title. The black guy is Gabe, and he blows a bugle the likes of which Company 3 never dreamed of. "Wahoo!" Is their traditional warcry.

Ah ha ha ha, Dr. Erskine, YES. My Twitter review of this was "I don't know that my takeaway from this movie was supposed to be STANLEY TUCCI DO ME."

My mother sometimes sings that at me. But only since her hysterectomy.

Thanks, Mom.

I am so down with that philosophy! I think it applies to 50% of my movie viewing. Another 25% of my movie viewing is solely to enable greater enjoyment of fanfic.

Was I the only person who wondered why Gomez Addams appeared to be Howard Stark?

In other news, I approve of this review :DDDDDDDDDDDD

I actually read somewhere that the black guy was supposed to be Nick Fury's father, because Marvel didn't want to further confuse audiences by putting Nick Fury on the team.

I have no explanation, but I've noticed it too.
