The consolations of immaturity
Oct. 8th, 2013 09:36 pmIn the work database, there's a category of documents called Master Files, so called because when they're applied to one transaction by a particular customer, they're automatically attached to everything else the customer does. (Forgive me if this is common knowledge; it was the first time I'd encountered the concept.)
All the master file categories begin with MF. Nobody else seems to find this at all amusing, possibly because none of my co-workers are actually in the fifth grade.
But when you're spending eight hours a day killing your brain indexing documents at a rate of about one every two minutes, it can be a comfort to think to yourself, "There goes another MF tax return."
