[personal profile] minxy prompts: a fannish follow-up to the headcanon question from the 7th (which you are welcome to revisit if this question doesn't apply): Are there any head-fixes for shows that you adopt as canon? A jump the shark that you pretend didn't happen, or an episode that makes no sense and you've rewritten in your head?

Fun question!

Shows like to make clowns of the sidekicks, and so nearly every show/movie I love has some cringeworthy moment when my beloved sidekick is a figure of fun. I always pretend that these moments never happened.

In my world, there was no epilogue to the Harry Potter series. People with century-long lifespans didn't leave school and immediately marry the first person of the opposite sex they met who wasn't a blood relative and start popping out babies.

Also, in my world Snape is alive and surly someplace out of sight. Lupin is also alive and somewhat less surly. Sometimes he's where Snape is, and sometimes not.

For that matter, in my world, Hogwarts teachers who were in their early thirties in Book 1 were not played by actors who have gray hair and trick knees. (Notwithstanding the excellence of Alan Rickman.)

In my world, Fraser didn't hypnotize people and plant suggestions without their consent.

As far as I know this one comes entirely from the fans rather than the canon, but my world, Tom Paris was not raped in Federation prison, because if people are getting raped in Federation prisons, then the entire Federation is a lie.

In my world, John Watson spends a lot of time vainly saying he's not in love with Sherlock Holmes, but he doesn't keep going on about not being gay, for obvious reasons.

Oooh, neat! I'm extremely chuffed that you answered. And on top of that, your answers are awesome.

HP really did need some kind of editing to just make sense, especially when the movies and the books were contradictory.

Yeah, it would be a curious viewing experience! I wonder if it would be similar to reading books we know to have been written by fans? I haven't read much beyond the Temeraire series (at least as far as I know) so I don't have enough basis for comparison...
