Is there anyone out there who's intimately acquainted with the arts scene in Sacramento, Calif. (specifically opera, classical music, and dance), or with the Sacramento Bee and the way it covers the arts? Comment me or e-mail me -- resonant8(at)att(dot)net -- if you'd like to let me pick your brain.

Edited to add: Yes, someone is job-hunting. No, it isn't me.

If you haven't already got her friended, [livejournal.com profile] giogio is a slasher in Sacto. I'm sure she'd be happy to help you out.

Well, I live in Sacramento and the Sac Bee is at my office a lot but I don't think that counts...

Is there something specific your friend is looking for job wise?

found you through [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine's rec of Higher Education, which. I'm completely unfamiliar with the canon, so I came into this with a completely blank slate, and. And. ...and.

this piece completely undid me. if I started picking out bits I liked specifically we'd be here all night, but.

Brian kissed back just as hard, like he hadn't kissed anything for nine months, either. Nine fucking months without so much as hearing his voice on the phone, and shit, this hunger was way more than just his body, how could he have missed that? "Let's not do anything so fucking stupid ever again," he growled against Brian's mouth, and Brian muttered, "I won't if you won't," and that was all the talking that really needed doing.

that, right there.

john's a fascinating character to me - the unbelieveable amount of anger, the pain, the neurosis. that really he's just a good guy, bent and broken but good, is gorgeous and sad. I don't know if that's your characterisation or canon, but whatever it is, it's gorgeous. the whole piece is.

I live near Sac, but I'm not super familiar with the arts scene. I do go to the theatre once in a while, and we have a few different options, but other than that...what kinda info are you looking for?

Wow -- I'm so glad you liked it!

Good! It's not exactly canon, but you can see it from there. He's just a kid in the movie, and in fact a more likely future involves serving ten to twenty for dealing drugs, but this is one way that he might havve been able to pull himself out of that.
