Kissing, part 2
Jan. 30th, 2006 10:32 pmWell, it wouldn't leave me alone, so I wrote it down. You'll be able to see the point where it stops being notes and starts being kind of storyish, with POV following discernible rules instead of just wobbling all over the place, but I kind of like the beginning and don't feel like fixing it, so -- I don't know. Think of it as a meditation on OT4 kissing.
Teyla kisses Rodney first, because it's easy; she has no particular tension with him, but she likes him well enough. It's a soft sweet kiss that leaves him with a big dumb grin.
She kisses John next. This is a tricky one; he kissed her when he was all wraithified, and they're both thinking about that. It freaks him out more than it does her becausehet confuses him his momma taught him only to kiss hot alien babes who want to be kissed, and he's ashamed of himself. So this kiss is really significant to him because it means she forgives him. (Of course, it helps that he's back to normal human strength, which means she can beat the shit out of him if necessary. He finds this quite comforting.) Afterwards he hangs onto her in that forehead-touch thing for quite a while, until Ronon pointedly clears his throat, and then John blushes and steps back.
Then Teyla kisses Ronon, and it's a sort of playful challenge -- she won't give him full lip contact, just keeps on doing this brush-and-retreat thing until he makes a little growling noise, quiet enough that she's the only one who can hear it, and she dances away looking quite pleased with herself.
Then it's Ronon's turn. He kisses Rodney first, too, and for the same reason: because he likes him just fine when he's not breaking their cover by talking too loudly, but they have no particular tension and there's nothing at stake. (Rodney, happily unaware of this, is already adding "Most Kissable Person In Pegasus" to his list of achievements. This is why he doesn't notice at first when kissing Ronon turns him on a bit: He can't really distinguish arousal from self-satisfaction.)
Ronon kisses Teyla next, and if her kiss was all promise, his is all delivery. John and Rodney avert their eyes, but they can still hear the noises.
Ronon has been wanting to kiss John for a long time, but he never figured he was going to get the chance, even though he's well aware John wants him. So he's been planning his strategy since they first figured out what was required of them. He does it fast but lush, mouth as soft as he can make it, maximum skin contact. John takes a sudden loud breath when Ronon steps back.
John's turn next. He starts with Teyla, and he's smiling, warm-eyed; the ritual, or her acceptance, has given him something back, and he's happy. He puts his arm around the back of her neck, this time, because he can hold her, now that he knows, and she knows, that he'll let her go.
Ronon's conspicuous gentleness pissed him off a little bit. So now that it's John's turn, he doesn't so much kiss him as lick him. Licking his own lips afterwards may be overkill, but he likes the way it makes Ronon's eyes go blank.
He saves Rodney for last because what the hell is he going to do with him? Belatedly it occurs to him that that performance with Ronon was a confession -- a graphic demonstration, in fact -- that under the right circumstances he does indeed play for both teams. Which means that he's not going to be able to fall back on heterosexual reluctance to get him out of this without dangerous levels of closeness.
Of course, every second of hesitation is a confession, too.
He leans in and just does it, not trying for sweet the way he did with Teyla or hot the way he did with Ronon. Not trying for anything but getting it done without giving too much away.
Rodney's mouth is slightly open, and when he takes a breath, it makes John's lips cold for a second. John can't help pressing a little closer, just long enough to get warm.
When he raises his face, he thinks he's done it without screwing up, but he can't read Rodney's expression, so he can't be sure.
Rodney hasn't missed the fact that the four of them are now so close together they can feel each other move, and that this has all started getting very, for want of a better word, sexual. But it's not as if he's complaining. If he got the slightest bit of encouragement, he'd sleep with any of them -- god, or all of them, what a thought -- and an opportunity for kissing is not something he's going to waste.
He picks Teyla first because she's got the safest expression on her face right now; Ronon's always hard to read, but if Rodney had to guess what he's feeling right now he'd say something like 'homicidal rage.' And John looks like he's trying to look brave in front of the firing squad.
Teyla, though, is giving him that warm, welcoming look she sometimes gives some long-lost guy in homespun who shows up to meet them at the gate, and it's so disgustingly cute that it makes him want to wrap her up and rub noses with her. He's not quite far gone enough for nose-rubbing, especially not in public, but he kisses her the way he's always wanted to kiss her, and she bends back over his arm so that he thinks they must look like movie stars, and when he's done they're both smiling.
There's no smiling with Ronon, of course, but by the time they're done, Rodney's the one who's bending back over Ronon's incredibly large arm, while Ronon's other incredibly large hand is supporting the back of his head. And as he pulls Rodney upright again, he's got a thoughtful look, like it's this, of all things, that has finally taught him that Rodney is not to be underestimated.
That leaves John. John, who five minutes ago was pressing one hand to the small of Rodney's back and stroking the other over Rodney's neck while doing this amazing lip nibble on the corner of Rodney's mouth, and who four minutes ago was giving him the blankest of blank looks like it had all been somebody else. John, who gave Ronon tongue and Rodney nothing but tease.
He's tempted to grab, but one of them has to have a little subtlety. He cups the side of John's face, instead, stroking his thumb over John's cheek, and John's good, but he can't quite control the way his eyelids move, like he wants to shut his eyes and is having to work hard to keep them open.
Rodney leans in slowly, just so he can see them shut. It feels like a victory.
He wants it to be slow and irresistible, and he wants it to be wet and nasty; he knows a thousand ways he'd like to kiss John Sheppard alone, and he's discovering that he has another thousand ways he'd like to kiss John Sheppard while Ronon leans against his shoulder and Teyla's leaf-scented hair tickles his cheek. But in the end all he can do is sink down into it. John's mouth makes Rodney's mouth hungry for sensation, John's tongue is just the right kind of wet, John's hands are starting to feel like they belong on Rodney's back and the nape of his neck --
What's on the nape of his neck is actually a mouth.
John makes an alarmed noise that melts into a very happy sigh, and Rodney opens his eyes to see that Teyla is doing to John pretty much exactly what Ronon is doing to Rodney.
Rodney really doesn't see a down side.
