Bottom line blues
Sep. 13th, 2003 08:11 pmWell. I've just spent most of the afternoon doing one of the most unpleasant things imaginable: working out a budget.
Specifically, hours on end developing a new, razor-thin budget to take into account the fact that we'll be living on one income until I actually manage to write, edit, and sell the romance novel. (Writing? First draft should be done at the end of next week. Selling? I haven't the foggiest.)
Added complication? A spendophobic spouse. I spent a really laughably long time pointing to the column of figures over and over to make the point that, OK, under ordinary circumstances you put half your income into savings, and I admire you for it, really I do, but now is not the time to be rigid about this.
We're going to reconvene at Christmas and decide how things are working, but at the moment, each of us has an allotment of personal money that will buy three mochas a week. That's if we don't buy anything else. And if we don't have to pay any fines at the library.
Meanwhile, kidlet decided to rediscover the Joy of Tantrums, which until this week I would have said they had outgrown.
So, in short: Someone either send me some really primo porn, or else come up to IRC or AIM and entertain me. For the love of God, Montressor.
