I just had a Blinding Flash of the Obvious: When people are kind enough to nominate me for contests, I ought to repay them by sharing the contest with the people on my flist. Duh. Sorry.

Anyhow, someone has nominated Transfigurations for the Quill To Parchment contest, which was very nice of someone. I particularly like this contest's approach to categories: Boys Do It Better Male Slash, Girls Do It Better Femslash, Because JKR Said So Canon Het, Because We Want It So Fanon Het ...

To tell the truth, if anyone wants my voting suggestion, I suggest y'all vote for something newer -- lots and lots of great stuff has been published in HP since 2003.

Yay! New list of fic to read.

I've just read your and Julad's DVD commentary to Transfigurations, just the other day--for some reason I hadn't noticed it existed. Found it really intensely interesting to have that glimpse into your process.

I've read a lot of stuff in HP fandom, ever since I got into it back in 2001, and I stand by my statement that Transfigurations is the best slash fic I've ever read. It has plot. It's lovely and long. It has a reason for the relationship to unfold. I adore fics that explore aspects of magical culture outside of Hogwarts. It comes across as so real, and reminds us that post-war Hogwarts is not going to be all happiness and light once Voldemort is gone. I loved the DVD commentary as well, and [livejournal.com profile] julad's Night-blooming Heartsease.

However, if you think there's something better than that in HP fandom, by all means link to it, because I'd love to see it.

(As for het fic, I recently got hooked on [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo's work, but that's a whole other story.)

Ya fergot that's it's beautifully written :D

The only HP fics I enjoy as much as Transfigurations are [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge's wonderful long epics (Stealing Harry, Sweet Home etc) and [livejournal.com profile] mistful's marvelous Quality of Mercy & Drop Dead Gorgeous. These 2 and Res are the fics I return to again and again :)

I forgot to say that it's beautifully written. I would never forget the fact itself.

I nearly started reading 'Stealing Harry' ages ago, but he hadn't finished writing it, so I'd better go and look it up. I've heard of [livejournal.com profile] mistful, and I'll go look those fics up as well.

Oh you *must* read Mistful :) Not only is her fic wonderful but she's an insane genius Irish lassie whose regular ole LJ writings are the highlight of my week :) She didn't start tagging till recently, so here are links other people have tagged up to my 3 favorites Quality of Mercy, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and The Way We Get By. She's delightfully irreverent and will make you laugh out loud, but at the same time is fantastic with character - one of those people whose HP characters are so true to form that their stories become cannon :P

Quality of Mercy (http://melisabot.livejournal.com/25066.html)
Drop Dead Gorgeous (http://elsie.livejournal.com/103553.html)
The Way We Get By 1 (http://mistful.livejournal.com/99459.html?style=mine)
The Way We Get By 2 (http://mistful.livejournal.com/99599.html?style=mine)
The Way We Get By 3 (http://mistful.livejournal.com/99949.html?style=mine)
The Way We Get By 4 (http://mistful.livejournal.com/100203.html?style=mine)

[livejournal.com profile] copperbadge's fic's are all archived here at Sam_storyteller (http://sam-storyteller.livejournal.com/) with extensive tagging so you can find what you want.

Have at and enjoy :D

Aww. That's sweet! I'm not reading a lot of HP lately, and I was never really a Harry/Draco fan (oddly), but I have recently discovered [livejournal.com profile] schemingreader and [livejournal.com profile] busaikko, both of whom seem to share my love of the Snape in his natural habitat.

They're pretty fun, aren't they? Made me want to nominate something, despite being very far from being on top of the fandom's news in any way.

Transfigurations= my first love.
I've been in fandom for about 4 years and your story is the one that stays with me always.
There is something about the plot and characterizations that makes it perfect, and I honestly love your writing style.
I reread your story a bunch of times and have never left a comment, so consider this my comment and if it sounds a bit fangirly....it's because I am.
I'll go and vote for Transfiguration because like wine the older it gets the better it tastes.
