Why didn't I just do this in poll form in the first place? I ask you.

Though actually it's better that I didn't, because I wouldn't even have put "The Teeth of the Hydra" on the poll at all if three people hadn't requested it. I thought it was one of my stealth stories.

So. In poll form this time:

[Poll #238477]

(Of course, all this depends on my being able to locate any chat logs from 2002 or earlier. If I can't do that, I'm not going to have a lot of material for anything earlier than "Transfigurations," since I've got a brain like a steel colander.)

Seeing Transfigurations up there reminded me of something I meant to e-mail you about a while ago - the name 'Aiofe' for an Irish girl is misspelled, and would actually be unpronouncable in the Irish language. I think you meant to say 'Aoife', which is a very common Irish name. Small thing, I know, but it kept bothering me as I read it.

And yes I owe you an e-mail about how utterly fantastic the fic is, how it made me realise that WiPs were a poor substitute for a tightly planned novel-length one-shot, and how calligromancy and the cool plot in general putting the romance to the sidelines was extremely fitting, a good read, and most importantly, realistic.

I fixed that. In fact, I believe it was because I saw something about it in your LJ.

It was one of those things where you make a typo the first time you type it, and then you accidentally tell your spell-checker that the typo'd version is the right version, and then forever afterwards, every time you spell-check, the computer "fixes" the correct spellings by making them incorrect. (In other words, I speak no Irish and I blame the computer.)

Glad to have had a hand in bringing you into the anti-WIP camp, though. I hate the way perfectly good stories are ruined by being published in serial form. Publishing a chapter when you haven't written the whole story is like posting a very-carefully-proofread rough draft.

You did? I think the perfect fic may now exist. :D

I probably shouldn't complain about WiPs when I have one myself. *sighs* Chapter 1 was posted in April 2002. Chapter 11 was the last update. It'll probably end up nearly twice that length, if I ever finish the damn thing.

I think most people just don't have the power to write a fic that long with no encouragement from anyone but their betas. They tend to be great fanfics when they're done, but there aren't many of them. I don't blame writers for going the WiP route.

Even worse when they don't have a real plot - events scatter and loose ends can be seen there and then. *signs anti-WIP petition*.

You are evil, you don't have the option 'both The Familiar AND Transfigurations' in you poll. It's cruel.

Haha, I don't suppose you'd consider doing them all.

I feel I must submit my respectful request for both "The Familiar" and "Transfigurations". The selfish reader in me cares not for the amount of work it will entail on your part. Neener, etc.

I was going to leave it at tht but LJ wouldn't play ball...
