The last December Daily:: [personal profile] ride_4ever if you are a maker of New Year's resolutions, post at least one -- if you are not, then comment about the concept of New Year's resolutions OR write a snippet-sized list of New Year's resolutions from the POV of one dSC6D character.

I don't always make resolutions, and when I do, I have Rules:

- Nice and simple. Can be done in a minute or two.
- Can be hooked to something that's already a habit. Like one year literally my resolution was: when I come in the front door, I put my keys there.
- Not cumulative. If I stop doing it on January 3, I can pick it up again in October.

I've written before about my most successful resolution ever, which was: every time I come in through the front door, I wash my hands. Still doing that. It has been useful, as you might imagine.

This year I think I'm going to try to do a couple of reps of Chair pose when I get up from sitting. I'm still working on a groin muscle injury (you'd think I was an athlete, which I definitely am not) and one result is that I'm weak in the quads and get all out of breath when I walk, so I'm going to see if I can strengthen those muscles a little bit.

I'll bet Fraser is a big resolution-maker, and I'll bet he makes dozens of them, and I'll bet his resolutions are awful, terrible, bad on every level, things he would scold another person terribly for. Be More Patient. Give Up Sarcasm. Learn From Your Mistakes, Benton.

"Those," Ray K says when he sees them on the yellow legal pad, "sound like resolutions you'd make for somebody when you hate their guts." He's talking around a candy cane in his mouth. It's -- strictly speaking, etiquette would demand --

Fraser lets a moment pass (Think Before You Speak) and then says, "Are you making any New Year's resolutions?"

Ray swaps the candy from one corner of his mouth to the other. He tucks his lips in and then releases them with a soft popping noise. He's looking somewhere over in the other corner of his living room, but his eyelashes go down, almost a smile, as if he's reacting to a word, though no one has said anything. "I was thinking of seizing the day," he says around the peppermint. "If the day wants to be seized."
