"Ponte vecchio," his tape says.
"Hey, wait, what does that mean? What does 'vecchio' mean?" I ask him.
" 'The old bridge,' " he says. " 'Vecchio' means 'old.' "
So maybe everybody already knew this but me, but his name was "old Ray."
Now I want to know what Kowalski means.
