Went to see "21 Jump Street" today. Man, I'm old, but they just don't seem to be able to make a comedy without gross-outs, simulated gay sex, and lots and lots of dick jokes, do they? I'd like to have seen this premise taken on by the John Hughes generation of makers-of-dumb-but-charming-teen-comedies; I'm thinking I would have enjoyed it more if it had been a little less penile.

On the other hand, somebody's gonna slash it. Can't wait to see who.

The spouse really loved Easy A; I haven't seen it.

Re-reading, it looks like I hated Jump Street, and I didn't -- lots of things about it were lots of fun. Just, there were also lots of things about it that I sort of watched through my fingers because I was embarrassed for the characters.

I haven't seen it, but I suspect a lot of The Eagle fandom people will slash it. I don't find Channing Tatum particularly attractive, though, so I will not be among them.

Well, he's funny, which raised him in my estimation; I had thought he was one of the Interchangeable Handsome Twentysomethings.

I would HIGHLY recommend Easy A; it's easily one of my favorite comedies that has come out recently.

Reading your original post, I didn't think you hated Jump Street! But I agreed with your clarified statement as well; there were a lot of parts I thought were HILARIOUS and awesome, but overall I feel kind of ambivalent about it?

This is why my usual comedy movie technique is to wait until basingstoke goes to see it and then she tells me if I will like it or not. (Also why the last comedy I saw was, I think, "Zoolander", which she sold to me as "no fart jokes! instead, mermaid jokes!" Before that, I think it was "10 Things I Hate About You".)

Mostly I stick with kids' cartoons; less likely to leave me wishing my brain could take a shower.
