Advantages of working from home:

1. Kitty purring at the foot of the bed.
2. Can have strong coffee with real cream instead of weak coffee with powdered creamer.
3. Can cook myself lunch.
4. In slack times, instead of messing around on the work-safe parts of the internet, I can open my personal laptop and go directly to the porny parts.
5. Don't have to talk to that one co-worker who socializes constantly and never talks about anything but herself.

Drawbacks of working from home:

1. Kitty walking all over my keyboard in search of attention.
2. If the coffee is good, I will apparently drink a really epic amount of it.
3. Can wander down to the kitchen and eat leftover New Year's ham until I feel like there's no moisture left in my body.
4. Strong temptation to declare the entire day a slack time.
5. After a full day without in-person human contact (and with lots of coffee), I respond to a simple text with such a barrage of conversation that Hidden Virtues texts me back, "Stop talking now."

Drawback #5 (wall of spam to an IM session) is my frequent downfall. I can type pretty quickly on my magic Dvorak keyboard and really never get tired of it. It happens most when I am both bored and wired - I use tea instead of coffee, though. I keep waiting for my friends to tell me to shut up, but they never do. One of them will occasionally ask, "Are you hypomanic?" Sitting down while hypomanic means the energy must go somewhere!

Thanks for sharing. :>

I strongly suspect the drawbacks of 3 and 4 would make working at home unfeasible for me. Or at least, not a good thing in the long term.

When I worked, working from home was my favourite part of the working week.

The strong coffee with real cream is always my first clue that a weekend has arrived. :)

Ahahaha--thanks for this! :-D
I'll confine myself to:

1) Ask kitty. The cats are in charge anyway.
2) GD coffee now causes such a crash that I fall asleep if I have more than 2 cups. Except if I drink it in late afternoon or evening, when it keeps me awake but groggy for hours. I used to drink pots of the stuff--this is messing with my entire worldview.
3) Food. Ugh.
4) I used to tell myself scare stories to keep myself off dubious (or out-&-out scandalous) websites while at work. Looking back, they may not have been fiction; OTOH I now know so many more, & better, sites that I'll need post-hypnotic suggestions or perhaps aversion training if I ever get another job....
5) Yeah, I've been unemployed & stuck at home with my MIL for ~11 years, & she's developing dementia. I hope. (Harsh but true. :-/ )
6) Your icon is brilliant! May I snerch it? <3 <3

I envy you. I would kill to work from home. Almost literally. Despite the drawbacks, which are all valid.
