Seven confessions
May. 9th, 2003 01:55 pm... because I feel like admitting to someone how petty and selfish I am, but would prefer to do so in a way that isn't likely to have any negative consequences for me.
1. I hate listening to the spouse practice the piano. It makes me want to break something.
2. I'm disappointed that all my real-life friends and relations didn't make a much bigger fuss over my birthday.
3. If it weren't for guilt, I would never agree to spend one minute playing "house" with the kidlet, not ever for the rest of my life.
4. My friend with the low self-esteem is rather boring, and I tend to duck her phone calls when I can.
5. I think that my parents really are more likeable and reasonable than the spouse's parents are. Likewise, I believe my brother's messed-up-ness is less profound and antisocial than the messed-up-ness of the spouse's siblings.
6. I compare my Friend Of list with other people's, and secretly feel a thrill of joy when I discover that more people are reading my journal than are reading someone else's.
7. Deep down, I feel that it's only right and proper if other people make more of an effort than I do.
