The spouse and the Tech Goddess are both in those family situations where You Gotta Either Laugh Or Cry.

His father has spent the current visit randomly picking fights and then the next day pretending that nothing happened. (And unfortunately this can't be blamed on age or Alzheimer's, since he's been doing it for forty years.) Also, it has been alleged that his brother is on crack. Whether this is true or not, we don't know, since his sister was quite drunk when she said it, but the fact that we're even considering the possibility should tell you something about his brother.

Her younger sister is pregnant; they think she's probably given up illegal drugs for the duration of the pregnancy, and she's moved out of her boyfriend's house, which is good, because meth-cooking fumes are probably not the greatest for fetal development.

I think they ought to just switch families. It's a lot easier to laugh at the stupidity of people who didn't know you when you were in diapers.

Me? My brother is obsessed with a government cover-up of UFOs, and my mother is obsessed with weight (hers and mine). I feel so normal.

Normality - is there really such a thing? If so, I'd imagine that you qualify. I mean really, what's so not-normal about writing slash fanfic, after all?

*grin*

This would make a great movie summary. Sad, eh? Still, movies about fucked up people are enjoyable in that one generally feels happily mundane upon exiting the theater.
