I ... don't quite know what to do with myself now.

Usually I have several stories going at once, but I was work on Transfig to the exclusion of everything else, so as to prevent myself from procrastinating. In retrospect this might have been a bad idea.

you can just sit tight

and read other people's stories... and also wait for the loc's to roll in. I'm 3/4 through Transfigurations.

It's brilliant, and I shall tell you exactly why in great detail as soon as I am finished.

Oh,and before I forget to do so, I loved the story. I don't read much (almost no) HP but this was very good. I didn't know how I'd like it because...well, the pairing kinda surprised me but you made me believe it.

Oh, yeah, and ri-ight. "Read it by chapters." Uh huh. *rolls eyes at self* Didn't happen. Ain't ever gonna happen.

I have a great idea! Sounds like after immersing yourself in HP - always a worthwhile endeavor, imo - maybe it's time to reacquaint yourself with your old buds Ray K and Fraser, just for a change of pace (not that I have any self-interest in suggesting that, not that I adore your Ray K and Fraser and would kill, or maybe die, for more, oh no, not at all! ) Whatever you write, though, I feel safe in predicting it will be fantastic.

Perhaps this would be a good time to try and tempt you back to Sentinel where you're talent and humor are greatly missed. Write a Sentinel story and e-mail me your address and I'll send you a cheesecake.

Heh. Alas, Jim and Blair haven't spoken to me for years. I'm afraid it would be easier at this point to make my own cheesecake than to get those character voices back again. (Though they do look quite tempting in your icon.)

Hey! I bought the Season 1 DVD while I was neck-deep in Transfigurations! I can actually watch it now!

Likewise, I'm sure!

My in-laws have a new CD player, and they have only one CD, and it's "Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits," and they play it quite literally seven or eight hours a day. All this and no chat access, too. I missed y'all desperately.

And though the release of the season 2 DVD has been delayed (originally scheduled for tomorrow!), Bob Gross emailed me recently saying: "It would appear now that Due South 2 will be available for sale sometime around mid May. The mastering process is nearly finished and the Distributor, Alliance/Atlantis will soon announce the release date." So we can at least hope that season 2 will be coming soon - and then, of course, season 3 . . .

I think I know how you feel. Whenever I finish a story I go through an actual grieving period, and the more time, effort and love I put into the writing, the more profound the loss when it's all over. It's happened to me often enough that I've learned I can't really concentrate on writing anything else until I've gone through the process. Uhm... I dunno if this is anything like what you're feeling, but if it sounds at all familiar, know you're not alone!

As for the story, I enjoyed it so much! I had a long, stressful, tedious work project on Saturday and I was using your story as a carrot to get me through the day, and it was finally my reward on Saturday night. I just raced through it, and I really do need to read it again because I'm sure I missed all sorts of wonderful nuance. I was so impressed with it all - particularly the mystery and Lucius' diabolically clever plan. It's such a delight to see fanfic that is really (to me) what fanfic is all about - a talented writer taking a fandom and using the setting, the personalities, the potential (in this case the magic) and putting a completely new and different spin on it, while still keeping it grounded in the canon we know. My hat's off to you!

A grieving process. That's interesting.

I've definitely noticed that I'll go into a trough for a while after finishing a story. For a few days, I'll think, "What shall I do this evening?" and nothing will appeal to me (and then thank heaven for the internet for offering "Click aimlessly from page to page" as an option). Then for a while after that I'll have less energy and feel less sharp, as though my brain is not fully engaging in anything.

(Sometimes during this period I look at my online friends and think, "None-a y'all evah really liked me anyway, so ta hell witcha." I try to stay out of chat at those times, which is why I still have friends. I think.)

As for the story -- I'm so pleased that you liked it! Thanks.

hmmmmm...

You could spend some time on TT (says the yellow fruit who lurks more than posting there, recently). I've missed you!

I was blown away by Transfigurations. It was a wonderful reading experience, from start to finish. You are truly gifted with respect to characterization, and your plot lines are superb. The whole thing was intensely believable.

I'm going to make Spouse read it -- the unreasoning bias against Non-Canon has got to succumb to such excellent writing. I've just about convinced Spouse that it's the novella that J.K.Rowling would write eventually, were she to continue after The War. I think I've piqued the interest enough that Spouse will start reading it and get hooked. Yessssssssss....

Thank you, Res! Thanks for continuing to write such marvelous stuff. My heartfelt apologies for being a slug about feedback in general. LJ is a saving grace for me, in that respect -- something about the format makes it easier for me to speak up. Like TT (where I would not mention your fic), but... um... different. Yeah, different,, that's it. Uh huh. Heh.
