I've posted a new SGA story to my website.

Reality
McKay/Sheppard -- NC-17 -- 2200 words
McKay was the perfect object for a crush you never intended to do anything about.

Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] julad. My Rodney characterization also owes a lot to some meta thoughts that [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn posted to her lj a while back.

Hee! This is great! Pining--I love it. I was wondering who would get around to writing fic based on that meta, actually; I'm so glad it was you. This is fab.

Oh, good! It just struck me as so immediately right when she said it that now it's stuck in my head.

"But I think -- that is, I hope you'll find that there are compensations."

Oh, man, that struck me as just so very Rodney that I could just hear it, and it kind of broke my heart in the good way.

Also, this:

"Or maybe that's not what you meant. People never seem to be quite clear about wanting to have sex with me; why is that, do you suppose? Do you need a little extra time to make up your mind?"

cracked me up, for pretty much the same reason. So very Rodney.

I'm always happy when I can give poor Rodney a nice time for a change. This is the reason I write slash, really; to give hugs to those who need them.

Thanks!

Very nice. :) And "Even at three in the morning, loopy on some raw Athosian hellbrew and talking about dogs that had been dead for years. Even slipping on each other's blood between the gateroom and the infirmary." ... loved those two lines.

LMAO. "I take it your indirection means you figured a relationship with me would be less complicated if I weren't actually involved?" Rodney said.

Oh, Rodney. You love you. *g*

(BTW there's a 'furst' where there should be a 'first'.)

This was just terrific, I loved the way that John keeps right on wondering if it's the right thing to do, even after they've done it!

I love Rodney's delight at finally figuring out what the heck was going on with him and Sheppard, because I could see him trying to puzzle it out. This was so much fun!

Yeah, I think that for a while Rodney would be so happy to solve the puzzle that he wouldn't even realize that x=sex.

I absolutely love your Rodney voice in this.

And this is just, oh my, perfect:

John put his knee on the other side of the bed and reached across it -- it felt, with Rodney looking at him, like sticking his hands through the gate without knowing what was on the other side -- and put his hands, and then his mouth, on Rodney.

to you. Because you are obviously some sort of higher being.

I could not love this story more. Seriously. I adore it.

"I take it your indirection means you figured a relationship with me would be less complicated if I weren't actually involved?" Rodney said.

::sighs happily and squeezes your Rodney::

Mmm, tasty! I love it when one character's dating another without him really knowing about it. And it only took Rodney a year to figure it out, but he totally got his priorities together fast.

McKay sat there for a second with a shocked look on his face -- John had seen him wear that look quite a bit when they'd first come to Atlantis, and then less and less as time went by -- and then he frowned, and then he landed a good-natured but solid punch on John's shoulder and said, "So that's it!"

Bwahahah! I could hear him say this so clearly, just the right tone.

Thank you, I enjoyed this story very much!

I identify with this so much you have no idea. I'm *in* a relationship like that, complete with snark, 'why on earth would you want to get involved with someone like that', and ambiguous touching; and like John, I think it's less complicated without her actually involved.

So the first part of the story rang very true. The propinquity-fuelled transition to a more conventional slash relationship was enjoyable, although obviously I can't identify as much. I loved Rodney's clear-sighted analysis of what John'd been getting out of the relationship as it was.

Okay, I loved this so very much. I still don't actually quite exactly watch SGA, except I kind of do no. I watched it last night, for instance. And I love Rodney to pieces, and I loved him in this fic--the stopping with the shirt halfway, and the very rational approach (no, got this one sensitized), and also the like, understanding except almost not, but being aware.... yeah, you said that a lot better in the fic. Heh.

Anyway. Yes, yay!

It's *so* John Sheppard to think that a relationship at a remove would be better than an actual messy relationship with a person. And the Rodney voice is so perfectly on target it's even a little eerie. I loved this to pieces.
