Last night I dreamed I tempted the Ingalls sisters into a life of crime. (You know, Laura and Mary and Carrie from the books.) When they told me they didn't want to steal, I said, "Well, you need money. You could do yard work instead. You want to do yard work?" And they looked at each other and shook their heads and went back to stealing.

you're assuming they'd get caught. they would not. laura is too smart for that, even if mary and carrie are a bit dim.

Heists, robberies or shoplifting? With their heavy layers of clothing, the last might be easiest ...

They were going around the neighborhood at night, stealing things out of people's garages and sheds, and out of any houses that might be unlocked. It was a much nicer neighborhood than the one I actually live in. They got some nice stuff!

Oh, man...Laura would actually rock at that!

She'd be good at it, wouldn't she? And I've always believed Mary was a lot sneakier than most people imagined.

Oh, man, and do you know what I just remembered? After Mary goes blind she develops, like, super-hearing. (Remember that scene at the train station?) At the very least, she'd be the best lookout ever. Alternately, she's...DAREDEVIL! Mary Ingalls, the girl with no fear!

Given the wonderfulness of yard work (not), I'm unsurprised by that choice!

I'd certainly rather rob garages than do yard work. (And if you saw my yard, you'd believe me.)

Little House on the Prairie was on... it was a MARATHON or something, and once again I was reminded of my LOATHING of the show, and how much I hated Michael Landon's hair and their dreary farm lives and now you remind me that YARDWORK IS THE DEVIL and that a life of crime is OH SO the way to go, if yardwork is your only alternative.

Go team you!

I never watched the show, but as I have a grade-school daughter, I've spent much quality time with the books, and clearly those girls are criminals in the making.

It's a little-known fact that yard work often drives young people to crime. Oh, the humanity!

I've always thought that they'd be suited to a life of crime. Everyone would be all, "Mary's innocent! She's blind, for Chrissake!" And Laura would be all, ha ha haaaa! because of course Mary's pickpocketing skills know no limits, thanks to those sensitive fingers; Carrie distracts 'em while Mary does the deed, and Laura is the brains.

See, it makes perfect sense.
