So, any interest in the Child Ballad series? One of the groups I frequent has been posting them (for instance, song 10 in the set is the Twa Sisters, these people have something like 50 versions of that alone) and I am very tempted to start downloading.
Okay, I will start on it then *G*. More gets posted every day and at the rate it's being posted, it is going to take a while for everything to get up. Good times! *G*
Okay! I did some downloading last night (something like 1000 songs), they are only up to song 19. You have no issue with RARs, right? I am uploading an RAR of the first ballad, The Devil's Nine Questions right now. I figure if I do it that way, it will be easier to keep track of songs and I will not hae to worry about making discs. Does that work for you?
Good lord -- I wonder how many there will be all told? And how many of them will actually be fun to listen to? (The Devil's Nine Questions sounds like The False Knight Upon the Road.)
Well, there are 305 songs in the set and who knows as to how many versions there are for each song. I just went to RAR up the Scarborough Fair variations and good lord, I think we may hit something close to 100 there alone. Happily, most songs are not quite that popular.
Yeah, it is similar to False Knight, the standard version of that song comes a bit later though. Argh, I will have to make a master list or something here soon.
Anyway, if you head over to my LJ, song 001 is up *G*.
Gordon McNaughton's created a LolCat Build(e)r. A fantastic and essential app, though I have to take issue with the use of CamelCase InterCaps in the word "lolcat"
This is my favorite part -- not only for the app's mere existence, but for Anil Dash's critique. I love people so damn much sometimes.
You know, I noticed some of this before I saw the blog entry, even, because on I Can Has Cheezburger (http://icanhascheezburger.wordpress.com/) they linked to a set of instructions on how to change your grammar to proper lolcat grammar (the link is now gone) and it was wrong wrong wrong!
And it worries me (1) that I noticed it was wrong and (2) that I cared!
