Wandered in from amothea's recs. Love this, love this, love this. And under the humor and the hotness it's kind of a horror story, isn't it - with John surrendering to Rodney's cheerful monsterousness and Rodney gleefully considering the others on his list. So much potential for creepy badness. *happy sigh*

I'm so glad you liked it! I'd never thought of it as being creepy, because of course in my head Rodney just happens to be exactly what John needs. Not that Rodney makes a habit of considering what anyone else needs, mind you; it's just the benevolent workings of the universe conspiring to find love for John Sheppard, who's too screwed up to find it himself. In real life, odds are it would turn out very, very badly, just like every other romance involving John Sheppard.

By all means, the universe should give John what he needs, and I'm convinced it's Rodney. I'm not so convinced that Rodney needs John, which is why it made sense to me that John didn't make the top of Rodney's list. But that's why I love your stories - you take what I see as a recipe for disaster and turn it into something really yummy.

I haven't read a whole lot of genderswitch, but sometimes it works for me -- sometimes it so very much does not, and I'm shouting at the screen, "Hey, I clicked this link because I wanted to read about Rodney, so who's this strange woman??"

Every word you write of Rodney's words and thoughts and actions rings hysterically true. "That's EXACTLY what he'd do!" is what I repeated throughout. This was such an enjoyable, satisfying read.

Oh, excellent! It's very weird, I guess, to write a story where magicscience makes someone change genders and then want it to be realistic, but I did.

Upon re-read, it still strikes me as hysterically funny that Rodney is so damn confident about being female, as if his big brain and logic is enough to guide him in how to live well in his new body. *laughs again*

i've taken advantage of your open-transformation policy and podficced this - posted here (http://community.livejournal.com/amplificathon/115858.html). i love the story, and john's weird confusion/denial, and his careful, polite sex practices as a symptom of that confusion/denial. and yes, of course rodney would take it all in stride. :D

how weird must it be to have a whole fifty percent of the human race that you couldn't be attracted to--exactly!

Um, so. I've seen maybe three episodes of this show, but somehow wandering around lj I've seen an obscene amount of mckay/sheppard fanfiction and some of it is really good--like this--so I'm making an effort to acquire it on dvd. Or something. Anyway, I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I think your Rodney was awesome and I love uke!John. This rocks.

this is everything i wanted out of a story tonight - smart and well written, hilarious, hot, full of fascinating character revelations and moments of obscene rightness, such as rodney's overly scientific and pragmatic treatment of his fun new body - good times. i loved john in it as well, i can absolutely see him being that kind of boring and repressed lover. i'm glad rodney was able to help him out.. :P

Sorry, I lost track of this comment for a while -- but I'm so very happy that Rodney's attitude seemed right to you, and John's approach to sex as well. I do imagine that John would have difficulty with the aspect of sex that's really most important -- the aspect where you're not in control.
