resonantThe new cat had surgery today and came home in a very upsetting condition, in pain and growling (though never biting) and unable to walk. It hurts to love an animal, sometimes.
He fell down and hurt himself badly about a month ago, and it turns out he has some bizarre condition where his leg bones where they enter his hip joints just, um, crumbled away. The vet says he can live a normal housecat life, but he'll never be a jumper again.
He's shaved as if he were wearing a pair of pink leather pants. This will probably be funny tomorrow.

Date: 11/19/08 03:44 am (UTC)My Pan can't jump everyplace, because she only has one back paw, and okay, so she's kind of chubby because that means she doesn't get all the exercise she could.
But you know, I just rigged my place to be handicapped-access for her in her favourite menacing spots. It wasn't hard or expensive and it doesn't look that bad, and she can still get up where she wants to go, except for the kitchen appliances, and, I mean, I didn't want her dancing around on our 900-year-old gas stove anyway.
It'll be okay, is what I'm saying. Not everything that you want for him, of course, but not so bad, really. Pan and I send him snuggles, and liver snacks made from mind powers.
PS: Pan has also had the pink shorts, though not for medical reasons. I never did think it was funny, but I did get used to seeing it after a few days.
