Of the four of them, Gideon is the only one who really knows anything (I mean, Louisa has been married, but not, I think, to someone who would have been much of a guide in this area) so he's going to have to get used to being the trailblazer.

But the only one who is actually likely to *do* anything new without making sure everyone else has explicitly agreed to every possible detail and ramification is Gilly. Gideon doesn't like rocking the boat, however much he thinks he does.
