I've just posted a new Sherlock (BBC) story.

"Home"
Sherlock/John -- NC-17 -- 3,400 words
"Right, then," said Sherlock. "I'll need you out by the thirtieth."

You can read it on my website or at AO3.

Many thanks to [personal profile] cesperanza for beta and Laura for britpicking.

Can I selfishly glare at you and say that I have been nursing a premise that starts out rather similar to this one (though it goes off in a rather different direction) and now I don't know what to do with it??????

Everyone will think I lifted the idea from you! Even though I totally told Cesca about it weeks ago. *sulks*

(Sorry. This is selfish of me. Ignore, and enjoy your actual feedback, as opposed to self-involved angsting. ;)

God, this is just...this is lovely.. After an incredibly stressful weekend and the stomach-twisting instant-anger feeling three minutes of skimming two days of work email gave me, this is beyond a panacea: it's just precisely, exactly right.

Thank you.

(Also: the theme of home lies very, very close to my heart - and in your hands it always warms that heart beyond the telling of it.)

erm.

I should perhaps add to the above that this would be precisely, exactly right even if I had NOT had a weekend as described. Sorry. Any damning-with-faint-praise effect was entirely unintended.

*rereads, sighing happily*

I loved it. I can't remember ever reading something you wrote that didn't hit (you should pardon the expression) home on multiple levels, and this was no exception. Also, you made me fall a bit more in love with the characters. I've never had a non-dS writing fandom (outside Yuletide). I'm feeling the tendrils of temptation here - and that's definitely in part down to you.

I wish so, too. I wish my work was less enraging, period. Some day, eh?

I loved, loved, loved this, and can so see it as it happened. I have especial love for this: It would be like going to bed with a tiger, a racecar, a bloody tsunami. It would be the most dangerous thing he'd ever done.

And - the thing about the shoe peeling away from the sole really pinged with me, when a huge massive important thing is possibly spiraling into disaster, and a small-but-necessary thing (like your shoe) collapses on you.

(I want to send Watson a note about how if you cram the food right up against the single pane on the inside, it's usually cold enough to keep it to the next day, but of course he won't need that advice any more, now he's back where he should be.)

He survived Afghanistan. And he can survive Sherlock. At some point, he'll dig his heels in, but man. It will definitely be waaaay out there.
