In the middle of the night I woke up, absolutely certain that the phrase in my head was the nugget of the best Sherlock story ever. I dragged myself into wakefulness, scrabbled through my nightstand drawer, and scribbled it down before collapsing back into sleep.

This morning I looked at the page. It said, "Intermittent fascination."

Oh dear. Mind you, that does sound a) a typical phrase for Sherlock; b) a good story title.

A prompt from her subconscious - I like that! And it wouldn't surprise me at all to discover Res's subconscious is a taskmaster :D

Ohh sounds like it must be from Sherlock's pov and it's about his fascination with John. The surprising part of the phrase, for me, is intermittent. Seeing as how it's Sherlock, maybe his intermittent fascination is stimulus-provoked.

LOL! You just made me choke on my Latte. That's awesome. I'm curious to see what you carve out of that phrase. :)

Hee! While that phrase does seem very appropriate for Sherlock, there's nothing like finding out that half-asleep brilliance wasn't... quite as brilliant as it seemed last night.

I think it's, er, brilliant-er than you might think. Go with the prompt! (Um, please.)

And I do think it's how Sherlock relates to, well, everything.

I have a notebook by my bedside for just those moments. Sometimes I have actual gems, sometimes weird snippets that I can't make sense of, and other times utter rubbish! Proportion of gems to rubbish is low.
