Had to send my MacBook to the Mac hospital to get the trackpad fixed. (Actually I took it across the river, drove through the parking lot of the Kroger, parked in front of the house with the concrete ducks, and went around back to ring the doorbell -- literal truth.)

So before I went, I locked down my documents folder and deleted all my browser history, the way you do. Didn't want to embarrass the ducks.

So now I have to re-train Firefox, because it doesn't even remember that 'f' means 'take me to fuckyeahfanficflamingo'!

Meanwhile, it would appear that my subconscious heard my plea for better sex dreams, because last night I dreamed I was making out with a late-model Elvis Costello. I'll take it.

If you have Firefox Sync on that and another device, it looks like you could de-sync that one computer, clear the history, and then re-sync once you were done, and that might avoid the problem. Haven't tried it though.

It's mostly better. It was doing this thing where the 'live' part of the trackpad (for clicking, not scrolling) got smaller and smaller, until eventually you had to click in this quarter-sized, slightly off-center area or nothing would happen.

I admit I tried punching it a few times, but that didn't help, though it made me feel better!

See, locally, "the house with the concrete ducks" would not be distinguished from hundreds of other houses. Although I'm prepared to believe that in other places, it's as distinctive as "the tree where we buried Jimmy's dog."

When I went to work in the mountains, everybody's directions would start with "you go past the old hospital building." After several months, I said, "What happened to the old hospital?" and our news editor said, "It burned down in 1961."

Yeah, the tree where we buried Jimmy's dog was struck by lightning sometime in the late 1970s. And I was always confused by the whole thing as a kid because the dog I remembered burying was Jimmy's daughter's German shepherd, which we buried down by the creek.
