(I am now envisioning my Aunt Joanie's legendarily dense chocolate cakes -- which can withstand fairly substantial explosions, I know because she was more liberal about letting her kids have fireworks than my parents were and my cousins had some fun with cake and GI Joes and black cats, one weekend in the late 80s -- interlayered with a sort of caramel meatloaf. Mmmm.)
