Anybody out there have a good enough handle on how detectives work that they'd like to help me brainstorm for a non-fannish romance project? I have one of these situations where, like, I need X but not Y, blah, blah, parrots and sugargliders, and shouldn't search warrants come into this process at some point, but in some way that doesn't distract us from hot people making out.

In other random news, my bento obsession as been re-ignited by the discovery that there are Moomin bento boxes. Whyyyyyyy must they make things I want and shouldn't spend money on? You know you've got it bad when your thirteen-year-old tells you you shouldn't buy any more of a thing until you sell a few of the ones you already own.

Don't let my son see the Moomin bentos. He's obsessed with the Moomins right now

I'd love to help. I've actually taken some criminology classes, so I *may* have the info that you are looking for. Let me know if you't like to gchat or skype or something. :)

I doubt I can be much help, but I'd be more than happy to brainstorm/share what I do know. I'm a lawyer but work in another field presently. I never practiced criminal law except for one terrible summer (haha), but I am okay with crim law/crim pro basics still including warrants, and I have a relative whose brain I could probably pick on one or two questions who works with government law enforcement (I'm being a bit vague for privacy reasons) -- and actually might have a couple of stories from them that, depending on your topic, might be interesting.

cathalinss@gmail.com if you want to chat a bit! Or just respond here -- that's good too. I don't have unlimited time but stuff like this is fun. Plus it's you. <3

Enabling is probably not helpful right now, but..

Have you seen the ones on this site?

So many pretty bento boxes!

(I've banned myself from acquiring more at the moment, so apparently I deal with this by attempting to push them on others?)

Ha! Oh yes, I feel your pain.

I think, for me, another part of the problem is that while bentos are adorable, they're made for a different culture's version of lunch/portable food. So, I love them, but as an American who is fond of sandwiches and who often has leftovers that can get messy if not in a well sealed container, bentos can be challenging if I'm not planning ahead.

Although... I did get a bit better in my purchasing choices once I realized I needed to stop buying the adorable ones made for children and limit myself to the bentos for adults. :D :D

De-lurking to say that I'm a long-time public defender and know more than I want to about police procedure. I'd be happy to answer any question you have. But I'm traveling right now, so it may take a day or two to answer, because Internet access is sporadic and I'm in another time zone.
