Wonder if anybody's written an omegaverse story about the end of fertility? No more floods of natural lubrication, no more heats.

Do relationships survive omegapause?

I don't read much in omegaverse (no judgment! Just doesn't call to me, usually) but I would read this so hard. :)

I can't get into omegaverse but that story, I would read.

That...is seriously tempting me as a prompt. I've actually written a story that involves an omega's last surprise heat in the midst of menopause, but in that case the character had lived a largely celibate life and was sharing his heat for the first time in middle age, with an alpha partner that everyone else likewise considered too old for courtship. I kind of would like to write a sequel with the two negotiating a sex life outside the mating cycle.

It's here if you happen to read Hobbit fic. I'm not an omegaverse reader or writer by habit, but I really enjoyed playing with the trope. As the question above illustrates, it's a fun one to poke at and subvert.

Well, admittedly that's 99% of what I write. I like characters with some experience under their belts.

I know omegaverse gets a lot of stick (and rightly so on some fronts), but it was a ridiculous amount of fun to write.

OMEGAPAUSE. Jesus.

I don't generally read omegaverse stuff because I find it kind of gross, but every now and then a really good writer will do one and I'll read it. There's a hockey one I like that focuses on the heat/sex-pollen part and not on the lubrication or knotting.

However, I now badly want an update to that hockey story....

Omegapause... I do actually adore you. And I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure I'm writing in a fandom you're not interested in right now, but I am TOTALLY gonna jump on that grenade for my Changeling 'verse! And I intend to credit you with the bunny, as well.

I know this is an older post, but I just read something that sort of qualifies and remembered this post so--

The End of Cycles by ac_123. It's Hannigram, so it's not precisely my cup of tea (cannibalistic serial killer+mentally unstable patient of said cannibal doesn't read healthy relationship to me), but it's a fascinating tale nonetheless.

Synopsis: Hannibal Lecter is an Omega on the verge of menopause. Will Graham is an Alpha with the most obvious crush in the world. Throw in a few dead bodies, some urine, and Hannibal fucking around with everyone and you get the most dangerous courtship in the world.

There you are: omegapause.
