Hey, taliahale, I drew Fantasy AU! Hm. Some of these I love (telepathy, for instance), and some not so much, and ... Wonder if I could get enough into a Due South state of mind to finish the bodyswappish story that's been stalled since December 2011?

Anybody want to rec me your favorite soul bonding/soulmates, matchmaker, or coming-out story? They've never been favorite tropes of mine, but maybe I'm missing something.

Bingo challenges have always intimidated me (signing up for five things? Argh!) but it's a new year. And last year I managed to write for three challenges so maybe that's the way to force myself to write.

I'm slightly terrified, but trying it anyway.

Yay! I'm kind of terrified, too. And the only idea that has occurred to me so far wants to be long and complicated and take account of the new Sherlock canon.

I vote YES for bodyswappish, which is my favorite trope.

As far as soul-bonding goes, I expect it's not a source you're familiar with, but osprey_archer wrote a series of soul-bond AUs for Frontier Wolf which are decidedly unhappy; in canon, Alexios and Cunorix are the bestest of besties, until they become mortal enemies. Also, Cunorix is married. So in the fic the soul-bond is uncomfortable and depressing and miserable for both of them. I admit this is the twist on the trope I like best, where the soul-bond is a burden that ruins everybody's lives. Um.

Yes, I like that take on soul-bonding -- well, I like happy endings, but I don't want something that profound to be easy.

The bodyswappish story (it was actually a temporary body-sharing situation) was written in a notebook, and I've found four half-filled notebooks since the move, but none of them are the right one, damn it!

Soul Bonding/Soul Mates is, like, the trope in Hockey RPF, so that turned me onto it.

I haven't read many coming out/outing stories (outside of Hockey RPF, again, because what wouldn't go wrong when a pro athlete was outed).
-Extantecstasy wrote The Closet Door Swings Both Ways, a charming and non-angsty fic in which Stiles from Teen Wolf narrates his own sexual identity crisis.
-iBear wrote The State of Marriage, which is an incredibly thoughtful Hockey RPF Crosby/Malkin story, exploring the repercussions of an outing on a Russian athlete with the current political attitudes towards the LGBT community.
-Mad_Lori's Johnlock Sherlock fic Performance in a Leading Role
-aubkae's Steve/Tony Avengers fic Many Names in History, None of Them Are Ours
-copperbadge's Steve/Tony Avengers fic Arms and the Man

I'm coming up pretty empty on the matchmaker front. Would that be different from arranged marriage fic?
PS--I would be so onboard with a DS bodyswap story it's sort of pitiful.
