So I'm seeing a number of lovely stories in which Finn knows nothing whatsoever about sex, because storm troopers lead a regimented existence since childhood, etc., which I'm loving because a plausible opportunity to get an adult who doesn't know how to make out is one of my favorite playgrounds.

But ...

What if it's the opposite? What if Finn is just astonishingly skillful and creative, full of ideas and with an enthusiasm that never seems to fail? And Poe¹ is swept along until his head stops spinning, and then he begins to inquire.

"Oh, yeah, we didn't have a lot to do between training," Finn says, and then, grin fading down into a wistful smile, "and the better you were, the less you had to sleep alone."




¹it's always Poe, because one can assume that he had a reasonably normal childhood and adolecence; Rey's past² was vastly different from Finn's, but you can't really paint it as reassuringly familiar.

²Though you could persuade me that Rey would also be a virtuoso. "If you're good, you can trade for all kinds of things. Plus it's fun."

Ahaha, I know; I was thinking the same: I mean, isn't there quite the record of militaries of various stripes fostering relationships by now?

Exactly! I was actually thinking about Rey, and given (1) her pragmatism and (2) her demonstrated ability to bond and bond well with *friendly* creatures, there's really little reason to not assume that she's made, well. A friend or two. :)

I've actually only read a few stories, which I found because I had subscribed to the authors on AO3, plus bits of random headcanon that people on dreamwidth posted here and there. I have a feeling that these are the first tiny drips of a great downpour!
