No way could I be expected to resist this. From [livejournal.com profile] silviakundera.

Best story I think I've written: Broadway Hotel, no question. It was like being in a trance, writing that story; I still don't know where half of it came from.

Favorite story of mine: Dunno, maybe Adorned? It's the only one of my stories that remained sexy to me after I'd written it; usually my sex scenes go dead for me in the process of writing them down.

Most underrated story of mine: Loving North. I got, like, total radio silence on that one, but it still feels True to me in some significant way.

Most overrated story of mine: Probably Tender. It was the first story I ever wrote with a plot, so of course I was passionately devoted to it, but aside from that the main thing about it is the dictionary gimmick.

And I'm oddly giddy that I have them all saved to my disk of doom for work reading. And feeling bad because I suck at remembering feedback.

I adore Loving North; it's one of my favorite due South stories. I also love Adorned. I think I remember reading that you originally intended it to have a less happy ending (is my memory correct?), so when I reread it I always wonder about that sadder possibility. I like the present version, though.

I go back to Broadway Hotel less than I do the other stories, but that's only because it hurts up until the end. I have to be in a mood to read it. But I do agree that it is a wonderful story.

what she said.

i love Adorned; i think it's my favorite on the roster (although i do have a particular weakness for Tilt, but that's a whole other thing). i've told you how the first time i read Loving North, i didn't really get it, but the second time, the words were much more patient with me, and it was freakin' awesome -- i expect the reason you haven't heard much about it is because it's frankly intimidating. :-) and Broadway Hotel ... it's good, it's very very excellent, but like mei said, it's not a comfortable read.

Not quite -- I wrote a couple of the more depressing sections first, and then stopped writing, so I had it defined in my head as "that depressing story." But I think if I'd conceived it as a story with a sad ending, I probably wouldn't have finished it. That's the kind of fuzzy bunny I am.

I go back to Broadway Hotel less than I do the other stories, but that's only because it hurts up until the end.

Hurt to write, too! I wrote the "Fort Good Hope to Norman Wells" section first, and the crosswalk section second, and truly right up until the last day I was not sure I was going to be able to put a bridge between them. I just could not get Ray to make that damned phone call.

Thanks for validating me on "Loving North," though.

Well, karma got me on Loving North, I somehow misplaced the copy I kept! So I'll correct both at once--I loved it. The whole colors thing was great. If I had a better memory, I'd probably have more to say about it.

Broadway Hotel. I have taken an 8 month leave from DS. And I read this cause i didn't know it was DS. And now I'm going back. Fucking, yeah. Because *yes* life works that way. Thanks.

(I'd be more coherent, but I'm ill. Sorry :( )

I agree with you whole heartedly that Broadway Hotel is exceptionally excellent - it is on my top ten or fifteen fic stories (reguardless of fandom).

But seriously - no one gushes on about 'Loving North?' I loved the sight and color imagery in that one. Really an outstanding story. I'm...surprised.
