In re: love at first sight vs. sex pollen, I'm reminded of a quote from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency:
Sherlock Holmes observed that once you have eliminated the impossible then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the answer. I, however, do not like to eliminate the impossible. ... The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it which the merely improbable lacks.
Sex pollen is impossible; love at first sight is merely improbable. Therefore, sex pollen is more believable.
