I remember once someone told me that something or other I had written had jumpstarted their sex life with their partner. That was ... I mean, maybe more than I wanted to know, but definitely a compliment.
I got a comment on Tolleranza from Theresa Neilson-Hayden. She told me my secondary characters pop. That was a thrill, I'll tell you.
The best thing anybody ever said about Breaking and Entering was that they learned the truth about what Eames was feeling at precisely the same time Eames learned it, on the last page of the story.
Recently someone bookmarked Transfig with a note that said, "An important historical artifact."
I also love it when people get semi-coherent -- a note that says "These idiots" or "HOO BOY" or "wait whaaaaaat." Or when they talk back to the "You have already left kudos here" sign.
I think my very favorite thing is when I've put something into the story that I'm not 100% confident I've gotten across -- like in my head the non-POV character is going through a thing, but the POV character doesn't fully realize it -- and then I get feedback that tells me someone noticed. That makes me so ridiculously happy.
Specify a date if you want; otherwise I'll just answer them whenever.
This year, in addition to the usual kinds of questions, I'd also love to get storyish prompts. Storyish meaning you never know what you might get: two sentences of a story, or a description of a story that will never exist, or a love song about how much I like that trope, or a rant about my pet peeve about that trope, or I know nothing about that canon except what I see on social media and here's what I think it might be about, or Ten Reasons Why I Love/Hate/Am Indifferent To that character, canon, or trope, or ...
As always, I'd love to hear about it if you're doing the meme too.
