Tale as old as time: Goodposture Ironedshirt is an irresistible temptation for Disreputable Smirkingman. It's set in ... a school? Disreputable is ... a detective? But then why is he in a school? Goodposture has a secret. I don't think it's a villainous one, but I'll bet Disreputable does.

Good job! None of that is incorrect! :D

Though it's not precisely set in a school, Shen Wei (Goodposture) is a university professor when he's Clark Kenting, so several subplots happen at his university.

Another familiar set of tropes - a detective investigating supernatural crimes runs into a mysterious and beautiful stranger repeatedly on his cases. What secrets is the mild-mannered professor hiding? (Many.) How much time can they spend staring deeply into each other's eyes? (A lot.) Will they have to team up and work out their trust issues to Save The Day? (Yep! Though fanfic is where you go for the happily-ever-after.)

Whoa! What does the cat shape-shift into?

Imagine if you had a cat that could shape-shift but wouldn't, because what could possibly be better than being a cat? But she's not above making her tail just a little longer so it can knock your water glass over.

*points to icon* In the show, the cat is in human form about 90% of the time (but still with a tendency to sprawl and an obsession with snacks, especially fish), and the rest of the time is a fluffy black cat. I believe the proportions are reversed in the novel.

I guess having opposable thumbs makes up for a lot. *g*
