1. I wish it were possible to matchmake people with fandoms. I mean I wish it worked. I guess matchmaking people with people has not historically been a big success either.

2. Maybe I need a fannish arranged marriage like a Regency lady of quality. Then I wouldn't expect passion, just a respectable match between two compatible pieces of real estate people.

3. I'd like to read a story without any hickies in it. Alas, I can't be confident of that even if I only read stories I wrote myself.

I recently had a successful matchmaking effort: I got two old school fans to delve into Guardian (TV, not novel), and they're as enamored as I am! I'm shocked and pleased that my persuasion actually worked. So don't give up.

Have you read the book, "The Little Paris Bookshop"? The premise is very similar to your fandom matchmaking wish. The proprietor listens to his patrons concerns, then prescribes books for them, like medicine for the soul. It's a great read, and I second your desire for such a thing to exist.

In my experience matchmaking only works when the "potential spouse" comes to you already looking for a reason to hook up...

(I once went to a comm and basically posted 'convince me to watch this thing' because it already sounded like something I would like! I was thoroughly convinced, and thoroughly sucked into the fandom.) :D

Speaking of matchmaking. In one of my Discords someone was trying to advertize a fandom and used you being in the fandom as one of the reasons :)

I want a match for myself, but I'm like one of those friends who begs to be set up with your friends, except not that one or that one or any of those, God, don't you have any smart friends except obviously moi?

People I like are all into stuff with way too many years of multiple media of canon, stuff with characters who look like children to middle-aged me, stuff where the canon humor is heavily based on secondhand embarrassment, or stuff that I can't immediately identify anything wrong with but which I continue to ignore in favor of idly scrolling through the tumblrs that I claim not to be reading any more. I'm the worst.

I also do not want to be writing Cobra Kai, but I want everybody who loves those gryf/slyth pairings to hasten over to Cobra Kai and write some dadslash for me to enjoy with no effort from myself.

stuff with characters who look like children to middle-aged me

Ha, I'm not even 40 yet but this is the main reason I have stayed away from The Untamed even though a lot of my Guardian friends went over there last year. I looked at some vids and gifsets and went: nope. In Guardian both main characters (and actors) are (and look) 30+ and the other show I was dragged into after that, Nirvana in Fire, had actors ranging from 30-50.

I have no idea if you are even in Cdrama fandom or would consider going there (reading subtitles is not everyone's cup of tea) but I can recommend Nirvana in Fire. NO hickys. (unfortunately, no kissing either). No secondhand embarassment humour. Okay, it's 54 episodes but that's it. Fealty tropes. Many amazing varied female characters. Noble suffering. Idiotic suffering. Court intrigue. Interesting side plots. Interesting antagonists. Really really well written over the entire show. There are no filler episodes at all. /ad
