Can anyone recommend a super-easy video or instructional page for crocheted snowflakes for an absolute beginner? One of my aunts taught me to make them when I was seven, but that was fifty years ago. I've looked at patterns online, but I don't have the skill to tell a hard pattern from an easy pattern, and time has taught me to be very skeptical when the internet describes something as "easy."

I looked on Ravelry for snowflake patterns that are rated as easy. Here's one that just uses single and double crochet:

Check out YouTube videos if you need a refresher on stitches, or I'm happy to help if I can. I'd make some practice versions with a large hook and heavier yarn just to get the hang of the pattern.

Ravelry is free and its pattern search is fantastic if you'd like to see many more choices.

This snowflake looks easy to me: you only need to know chain, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch; the rounds aren't too complicated; and there's only three rounds.

(For comparison, this one is one I'd consider hard.)

This one is pretty good as it explains how to do each stitch slowly as well as leading through the pattern.
