I'm doing a re-watch, and have already seen some Vecchio eps that I had never managed to see before. (A lot of godawful sweaters, high-waisted jeans, and enormous suit jackets! Twenty-something Mark Ruffalo in a rather apologetic performance as a hapless new father!)

And I've been following along with Sarah Monette/Katherine Addison's ep reviews.

I would ask why all y'all haven't provided me with 500,000 words of new DS content to read, but I won't, because you could turn around and ask the same of me.

And btw, there are plenty of fen -- myself included -- who are currently active in writing dS fic (and also dS vids and dS fanart and dS podfic).

I don't dare even hope ... but I'm loving having such easy access to the eps. Nobody even has to mail me a VHS tape!

Ah, yes the dS VHS tapes. I do still have those along with having two sets of the DVDs (one the American set and one the Canadian set).

This is one popular fandom show that I have never ever seen. I don't recall it ever being on TV when I was younger, and I've just never sat down to try watching it later like I have with Stargate Atlantis or Star Trek of various kinds. Maybe I should add it to my winter watching this year (I'm southern hemisphere, so Winter is Coming).

I enjoyed it a lot at the time. And so far the pilot and season 1 are holding up quite well. I'm finding I can't parse the fashion any more (Vecchio's clothes look like clown clothes to me now, but what would they have looked like to a contemporary viewer?) and the pace is slow compared to the way things are filmed now, but it's not embarrassing me.

Ah yes, the confounding 90s men's fashion of baggy suits, shirts, jeans etc can really date a show. I think I'll give it a try still, though the pacing might take getting used to. If I watch while doing cross stitch it doesn't matter much, and is good to have something to occupy my ears while I'm doing that.

Ah, you are in the southern hemisphere. Perhaps you are familiar with the fannish meetup known as "get_together" that's been happening in New Zealand every year since the early 2000s? Perhaps you know my dSC6D fan-friend china_shop?

Even though I live in the Midwestern United States, I have been a member of the get_together comm for about a decade, always hoping that some day I can travel there and meet my Kiwi and Aussie dSC6D fan-friends in person. (dSC6D = due South & Canadian Six Degrees.)

You should ask china_shop for copies of her dS pimp reels and C6D pimp reel made for get_together.

Kiwis china_shop and mific and Aussie mergatrude are very dear to me.

Right? I'm re-obsessed. I have literally sorted the archive by posting date and am reading my way back through things I remember from twenty years ago. Some people are probably very puzzled by the kudos they're getting.

Yesss I want due South to make a comeback so bad! I just read Fox’s story — so fantastic! I limit my due South reading because I’m terrified of running out, so thank you (and Fox!) for giving me an excuse to read tonight!
