I remembercesperanza talking about the Old Slashers Home when we were under forty, so here's the first visit.
I was feeling very stressed about getting all my work done before all this time off - up until about 11 this morning, when my team lead emailed me a complex and unnecessary set of six tasks that I had never heard of and my deepest brain went, "Nope." If she still wants it done next year we can talk.

Date: 12/20/23 01:46 am (UTC)We winnowed down our ornaments a lot last year, and I found myself making an impassioned argument for a cardstock Cthulhu, rather shopworn, who has some sort of fannish history that I don't remember. And every year I put out a hand-folded fortune teller from Tradescant (whom I've lost track of) where one of the possible answers was, "Lay off the eggnog, you, or you will be sorry."
One of the difficulties the spouse has with comprehending fandom is that he can't really put together in his head that we have all this wholesome traditionbuilding *and* the smut too.
