I dreamed someone let me hold their pet: a miniature elephant the size of a cat. It was covered in silky black fur like a cat (like *my* cat), and it wrapped its trunk around my wrist.

Honestly, in the "if you can dream it, you can make it" vein, why do we not have tiny, furry house elephants?

...and they could use their tiny trunks to suck up the cruft which collects underneath the fridge or in the window blinds
