Kitten poll

Yesterday the kidlet was begging me for a kitten. (Actually the kidlet was begging me for two kittens, plus another grown cat, but we won't address that.)

I said what I always say about cats: "First, I don't know how well our poor humble kitty would adapt to having another feline in the house. Second, I refuse to have a cat declawed, and I'd be worried about damage to the furniture and/or carpet. And finally, we don't have to go out looking for a cat. When the universe wants us to have a cat, the universe will provide one."

Today, the manager of my coffee shop is trying to get rid of a litter of kittens.

Laughing so hard at both of these stories.

Our former cat used her scratching post very nicely every single day. But she used the couch, the carpet, and the welcome mat every single day, too.
