Somehow I neglected to mention this yesterday, but [livejournal.com profile] julad has written the loveliest, most imaginative, cleverest Snape/Neville story ever.

Night-Blooming Heartsease

This is set in the Transfigurations universe; I suspect it would stand on its own if you hadn't read Transfig, but obviously I'm not the one to say for sure. But I can tell you that it's a marvelous world of its own, wonderful to sink into and stay awhile, and that it gets Neville from book-canon to Transfig-canon in a truly marvelous way.

I'll just include the warning Julad gave in her own LJ: Please note: There's a quote at the start of the story, and it's there to serve as a gentle reminder for those who've read Transfigurations, and a warning for those who haven't.

If you like it, please tell her so.

I can definitely tell you it stands on its own, because I read it first and then Transfigurations yesterday. I'll be feedbacking both of you as soon as my brain returns. Both of them are *so* exceptionally good.

I followed a link from a friend to Transfigurations, which I adore. Then followed links from there to Night-Blooming Heartsease, which nearly had me in tears at work too.

If Snape has to die in the books, I can only hope he does so as beautifully as you and julad have implied.

Aww! Thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed Transfigurations, and, yes, Heartsease did that to me, too.
